did a little work tonight in the garage. put on the exhaust manifold. when i took it off only 3 of the studs stayed in the head, the rest pulled out. I soaked them for a few days in PB blaster and then put on a set of vice grips and tried to take the nuts off but no luck...put the manifold on anyway and just used the old studs...i may get a new hardware kit at some point when i have some more $$ ....i also cleaned up and mounted the 2 water jacket housings.

Good to see you in the shop again Bill, Hows the end of Apple seasons treating you?
Looks like you are not too far away from getting that motor in the car, good stuff.

Bill took advantage of the Ryder parking lot, I did too in the Astro but no pics of that.

i have the motor in now, and yesterday i tried to get the motor to tilt a bit forward as the rear MM was very close to the bracket i made for it. I also fitted the missing linkz shift linkage, the alternator (although with only 1 bolt), lower intake manifold, the fuel injectors and the fuel rail

did a little bit today. bent the shift arm to allow for the wastegate. Next will be trying to figure out how i will route the downpipe.
here you can see it is still really close to the wastegate

i may have to hammer out the firewall a bit to allow for the downpipe

ok, also been a LONG time since i posted about this car, put together a motor with stock rods and AAN pistons but moved to FL before i could complete. car was stored out doors but under cover the whole time with paper towels in all the holes to cyls.... car moved down into garage for winter to hopefully complete, went to turn over motor so see if it was free or if i have to pull it all apart again and it didnt want to move much, so i guess ill be pulling the head off, again.....

been working a bit on the rocco again the past week or so, welded a flex pipe on the exhaust
<table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/qigxklDrNVt3QArkpp16CtMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6bW5Nhn_6NM/TyrxCgY7MfI/AAAAAAAAR8E/JUuQpSVHndE/s640/IMG00057.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/audios78/Rocco?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">rocco</a></td></tr></table>
then added a 2.5" vband to it, test fitting with the DP to make sure they didnt warp
<table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/vD_R7bBQOmu_Fojuo--RRtMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/--2oF-z-9_pU/TyrxayGjXoI/AAAAAAAAR8k/DtDPqZSUfPE/s640/IMG00058.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/audios78/Rocco?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">rocco</a></td></tr></table>
I had to make a breather as the 8v block didnt have a breather like the 16v did, removed the block off plate..
<table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/0QMWjqpXxeBvSwJt8lyx59MTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-EkzLk5PtilE/TyrxCi7ZTtI/AAAAAAAAR8I/G6Z4AuPk2Yk/s640/IMG00018.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/audios78/Rocco?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">rocco</a></td></tr></table>
the made a large hole in it and fitted a pipe that i can attach an old piece of radiator hose to to go to a catchcan
<table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/wFztSfFHYI4yrEtrtQUhB9MTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-OVGw3mKNbYA/TyrxBPt6ZoI/AAAAAAAAR74/GloyN2BXpf4/s640/IMG00060.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/audios78/Rocco?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">rocco</a></td></tr></table>
and its been so long you must not be able to embed images like you could before, i think im doing it the same way, but i must be doing something wrong, sorry

Its been a very long time since ive updated anything on a forum, but the car is basically done now, just need to tune it. Which im finding out is one of the hardest parts. A lot of the building/fab work is fairly easy to me ( it dosent look that professional but it works and i did it myself) but the tuning is a whole new area for me. and right off the bat im having some issues. I registered tunerstudio and megalogviewer and am using them to try to sort out the MSII a quick recap of the cars specs:
1.8 16v, stock rods AAN pistons
crappy ebay exhaust manifold ( found on craigslist hadnt seen one before and seller said it was made in sweden :/)
t3 60 trim from ford thunderbird
2.5" dp to 3" exhaust
LC-1
air to air front mount intercooler
HKS BOV
adjustable FPR
42lb ford injectors
7a throttle body with ford TPS mounted to it.
so the car with start with throttle but without it will just run for a few seconds and die. when i log it it looks like i have HUGE pulsewidths and then runs rich, although the LC-1 never seems to work right away but only registers after a little run time, butwhen it does it reads 11:1ish and thats after its been running and the PWs have come down a bit.
another issue i observed is that when looking a the ignition map with the car running and the screen setup so i can see both the display and the ignition table there is a discrepancy between the 2 numbers, the display was reading 18 and the table was reading 14... i thought they would be the same. the distributor has been set with the trigger wizard and adjustable timing light
i was going to upload some logs to see how crazy this motor is running but .msl extension's are not allowed

. holding the throttle steady the rpm/map/afr's are all over the place
here are some photos at least
