Custom redone v6 90cs motor mounts

Post by AngryTaco »

Just wanted to share these pics with you on a set of motor mounts I'm doing for Brian down in Nevada. He asked me to make him a set of motor mounts for the V6 car...which has proven to be difficult in determining the best route to take. Well.....here it is.

Cut the old crap rubber out of the mount

Here is the 4.5" 6061 aluminum tubing I am using to house the polyurethane. The machine shop is currently cutting the platforms which will be welded on the inside. Not cheap stuff.

Overall...I think I will have some nice cannon material to play with afterwards......hell maybe I'll mount it to the mobility scooter and make a mini tank out of it LOL

Here's what I did temporarily. Not sure if the V6 has the same clearance as the V8. Seems like making a mount to fit the aluminum ears with the OEM mount removed would be easier than welding aluminum. Despite the B4 and B5 mounting the engine in different places, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the B5 mounts could be used in place of B4 ones once removed from the ears.

Found something, seems like they are similar but the B5 is possibly 1/2" taller. Nothing that couldn't be solved.

I gotcha now Alex. The problem I saw with that that I didnt like was that there would be no side support for the poly. Looking back, I realize i could have just had a sleeve welded on. Live and learn I guess. I would like to see someone try and break the design I had done though lol
