K26 variations?

So the question I have is not what kind of variations that people have come up with, but what factory original variations were there in the Audi K26. I know the K26 was made for a few other makes, but the Audi version is the one I am interested in.
I picked up one from VT10VT, to build a hybrid, he has a few of them. The one that came off of his 200q seems to have a different profile for the fins on the exhaust side than most I have seen. Is there more than one Audi K26? The one he pulled from his 200q looks a little more like the K24 exhaust side. Hopefully I can get him to post pics.
Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldnt that mean that the exhaust housting would be different too? I figure, if the design is different on the shaft, than the housing would have been machined differently to match.
Hopefully someone in the know will be able to asnwer this. Um... Hank?

The KKK turbo on the 200q should be a K24.
Urqs and 5000's (type 43 and 44) had K26, though I think even there there are small differences between them.

Shawns car is an oddball in every way possible. It is a 200q avant with all kinds of parts that dont line up to what they are "supposed" to be.

And most importantly it's an early build with an MC1/K26 combo

It does have some later build parts, I dunno if someone updated some stuff or what, it was definitely wrecked at one point tho.
Anyhow, on topic it is a K26 and easily identifiable as such via plate on it and that it's bigger in every way than a K24. The wheel on the turbo in question has a bigger exducer and different profile turbine, and a matching exhaust housing. My "different" K26 won't even fit in the other #6 housings I have.
Dave, if it's an RS2 I'm gonna need that housing back

Never seen one, but maybe it's a Porsche 924 Turbo turbo.

Anything is possible at this point.
Shawn, do you still hav the stamp tag from your compressor housing?

Yep I'll check and post it up when I make it home tonight

awesome! By the way, which housing was it? I took the broken studs out of 2 of them.

Anyone have any more info on the audi k26?

You have 4 that I am aware of. Early URQ/5000T k26s,porsche k26s, MC1 k26s and then the 8cm2 housings that got a slightly bigger turbine than the mc1. That order is also the order for size.

Like normal, great info. Thank you hank. Are you still building the billet K26?

924 Turbo same size as 944 Turbo? I would have guessed not.

Compressor tag:
KUND-NR 035 145703L
GROSSE K26
ATL NR 88 523 0584
5326 970 6411
What I thought was the 'regular' K26 turbine wheel

Off my 200

Won't even fit all the way into a different #6 housing, the exducer is too big

Dave, I'm not sure which hotside came off this turbo but measure, one should have a bigger DP outlet and that's the one from this guy.

FYI, exducer =/= exhaust wheel.

Shawn, I believe that is the same part # as the one I picked up from kuma. I wonder what that shaft and exhaust housing came off of.
Also looks like you need few more studs removed. let me know.

Isn't the exducer the smaller diameter (top) of the wheel? I thought each wheel has an inducer and exducer, the bases of these two turbine wheels are the same diameter, it's the tops that are different. If that's not an exducer what is?

Sorry the pics didn't load and I didn't have a context before. It would be the inducer of the exhaust wheel I guess. On the exhaust wheel, the inducer and exducer would be flipped though I think.

INducer as air flowing in, so base of exhaust wheel, tip of compressor, EXducer as in air exiting, so 'top ' of exhaust wheel and base of intake wheel. It's in that Garrett link.
Dave, does is kuma's turbine the same profile as the one in the turbonetics hybrid? There's a chance those #'s aren't right... But I'm pretty sure it is from that turbo.

Not sure. I haven't had them near each other to check. I will do then when I get back.

So here is a little more info on the 2 turbine in question if anyone can help. The standard K26 trubin that I got from Kuma, measures in at 64.3mm major diameter, 54.5mm minor diameter. The other turbine measurs in at 64.2 major diameter, 48.2 minor diameter. That is a pretty drastic differance. Not to mention the way the turbines are trimmed completely different. I cant really seem to find much on the turbine side of things to figure out what the smaller one came out of.
My question is, which one would be more suited to a MC1? Obviously the MC1 came standard with the K26, and it worked ok. I am building a hybrid with these parts, and would like to find out more info on what the different turbine came off of, and weather it would work well with the setup I am running. For referance, the hybrid is a turbonetics T04B compressor and housing fitted to a K26 center and turbine shaft.
