THE Carlisle 2013 thread

Surprised no one has made this yet. I'll be heading down with the rest of the canucks from Toronto. I am so stoked and my car isn't even running! I'm just looking forward to driving the car so much... being in it for a day sounds like a really good time :) Opinions - worth camping with my son? He'll sleep anywhere, just thinking ease of access etc will be easiest camping. But a real bed and showers... ugh, decisions decisions

It's our 10th year for the Audi Club at Carlisle! All Audis--all years--welcome!

The show/get together = Friday May 17 thru Sunday May 19, 2013 (this is the Import and Kit Nationals show) held in lovely Carlisle, PA at the fairgrounds, right off of the PA Turnpike.

If you're new to this...search the forum for "Carlisle" and you'll see a ton of posts. Or go to http://www.audi4000.com for the past years pics! It's not a "ricer" style Import show, and has tons of cool BMWs, Saabs, Volvos, Subies, Kit Fieros, VWs, other randoms, and of course Audis!

Many folks arrive bright and early on Friday morning to help direct people where to park on the showfield. I've given up trying to arrange our lineup by models. Since we all come and go, it's sort of tough.

Market Cross has been booked for Friday at 6pm! When you email me please specify if you would like to join and how many will be in your party.

HOW TO:

We're all going to register under one name--The Audi Club. (It's actually on a drop-down on the registration site this year!)

The direct link at the bottom of this post will let you register online if you have a credit card.

Or to check out Carlisle's main site, go to http://www.carsatcarlisle.com. Go to Import and Kit-->Register online-->and then click on the second one down, 2013 NON-JUDGED Show Field for $35. Fill in the info, use the drop-down to get to "The Audi Club" where designated. If you don't want to put your credit card over the net, you can call (717) 243-7855 to register (direct link is http://store.carlisleevents.com/SearchR ... asp?Cat=23)

The cost is $35 for the first car you bring. This $35 includes you, one guest, and your car for the entire weekend! It appears the price has gone up a bit, please take note!
On that same link, you can also register to camp for $15, and you can register for both in one transaction. Camping is on-site, near where we park our cars, and there's a shower/bathroom facility with electricity, warm showers, flushing toilets, lovely bathroom attendants (Butch and Angie!), etc. If you plan to partake in any boozing that may occur, I strongly suggest camping so there's no issues with driving to your hotel afterwards.

When you register, it will tell you to print your confirmation as they're not mailing receipts this year. If you plan to register multiple cars, you can do that too and you'll get a discounted rate.

You know the drill: PLEASE EMAIL ME ONCE YOU REGISTER: theaudiclub@gmail.com (please be sure to include your name, online handle, vehicle, where you are coming from, and if you will be joining us for dinner at Market Cross, and how many in your party)

This being our 10th year we are hoping to have a fantastic time as always. Food updates will be forthcoming as we have a party that will be taking care of lunch on Saturday. Look for updates!!!

Look for updates to come. I'll get in contact with Scott to see about our tshirt design for this year.

w00t! I will be heading down from Pittsburgh on Friday as usual - I think Hank is gonna fly in and ride with me, and hopefully we will caravan with Aaron and some other Audi dudes.

Matt - there is a decent bathroom/shower on site, so camping is a viable option - but it's not quite the same as a hotel.

I was LOL'ing so hard last year when Maddex was spraying the Saabs with the hose that had just finished washing/drying their cars. You've taught him well

Lol yeah dad told me about that - that was Axel, though, my nephew. Maddex is a little bit smaller :) (he'll be three on the 21 of May)

There has been talk of doing he abandoned turnpike bike ride early Friday, but not totally sure yet. I need to score a bike rack and a bike for the car if Im gonna do this again.

Quick question for you Mike. Can another car be parked in the camping area but not on the show field? I can't find any clear info about parking in the camping area for one night, etc.

Basically my girlfriend has to bail out Saturday but doesn't want to miss out on the Carlisle tradition and plans to follow me down. I just want to make sure guest parking would be allowed but she doesn't want to pay for show field parking for her sweet 2012 Jetta TDI if it can be avoided.

Any idea?

I *think* they can, pending they have a camping sticker on their car. Years ago we used to have separate stickers for the showfield and camping. If she can get the car through the gate then there really shouldnt be a problem. You may want to contact Carlisle though, but I dont forsee this being a problem.

Since I really dont advertise the event many places (QW and MG only) would it be possible to put contact information and general event information in the first post? Only trying to take into account the Friday dinner at Market Cross and need to be conscious of the attendance since we only have 100 spots.
I did contact George about the breakfast Saturday morning but apparently that weekend there is perhaps a conflict with another event so he will get back to me. Besides Market Cross and potentially the breakfast on Saturday there really isnt anything else Id need other than an email for those 2 things. Food (unless other people step up) will "BYOF" (bring your own food). Its way too much for me to handle and its been a challenge in years past :)
Scott and I talked about tshirt design, so hopefully I'll have information on that as well soon.

Thanks guys!

Be careful Matt, apparently somewhere between Canada and Carlisle, kids like to puke down the entire side of your car.
