Long time coming 85urq

Hello to those left reading car project forums.
I had a previous build here for my 83 urq that stalled and the car was eventually sold.

This page will cover the car that pushed it out of the garage and the beginning of resurrecting an old posters car that never got the chance to finish it.
While scrolling marketplace one morning I came across an add for an 85 audi quattro. I live in PHX AZ and old audis are pretty sparce here. There was one grainy picture of a red urq on an autocross course and a pretty high list price with "not negotiable" along with very little information on the car. So I had to send a message. The lady got back to me and we set a time to look at it.
The car was sitting at an independent mechanic that worked on a little bit of everything odd. Here is what it looked like:

The 85 urq has always been a dream of mine. I much prefer the newer interior/ electrical. My wife talked to the seller inside the waiting room while I looked over the car and hit it off. Once I came inside I got some of the back story on the car. It belonged to her late partner who was big into Audis around the late 90's and early 2000's. Unfortunately he had some health problems and never got back to this car. We talked audis for a while and I told her my thoughts on what I would like to do with the car. Her partner was going to 3.6ltr V8 swap another urq, but sold it. He then turned his intentions to this car. I explained to her I thought the car was better off with the I5 turbo and that would be my direction. She agreed with me. My wife gave me the nod to make an offer and she accepted.
After getting home I found the car belonged to Jeff Goggins, also known as Audi dudi. I was able to find that 12v.org saved what appears to be his own project pages. He was also active on the AF mailing list and MG up until 2008.
Now with the car purchased I had to go get it. Once I picked up the car the seller informed me she had some parts to go with it. She actually drove a minivan to my house. The seats were removed from the van and it was stuffed to the gills with totes of car parts. Not all audi, but mostly.
From this post here you can see the totes and some of the parts that came with the car. There is some pretty cool NOS urq parts buried in these totes. As well as pretty much everything you would need to 3.6 ltr V8 swap a B2 including the manual flywheel and V8. Also came with all of the WX parts missing from the engine bay and the WX head still sealed in the shipping box from a machine shop in California that rebuilt it 10+ years ago.

Next submission will cover the engine and some progress.
