I'm not even surprised anymore, nice find.
What are your plans for this one? Swap? Restore and flip? Keep? These are going up in value quite a bit lately...

I'm not planning to do any swaps with this one.
Hoping to just get it running 100% and enjoy all 110 HP

Was this the one that popped up a couple of times on facebook? Very nice car, pin striping is different but in a good way.
I miss my type 85's always good fun to drive and so much more nimble/lighter than the later coupe's.

It is the one from Facebook. The pinstriping is growing on me. I would change the “stars” next to the “Audi GT” part but the rest is good with me.

Got some work done on this during my holiday break.
The "Lifter Tick" that I though I was hearing was an alternator bearing. I took the car on about a 20 mile trip and what had started off sounding like a tick was a scream by the time I got home.
Rebuilt the Alternator today and its all better!
Also got the radio to make sound.
I'm really digging this thing. It's slow but really pretty fun to drive

Nice. I love details like that. Dealership, or from Audi corporate?

A few more developments with this car. New tires, went through the hydraulic system completely. New master and slave for the clutch, new rotors and pads in front. Bled the really awful black fluid out of the system
Today I tackled the digidash. It had a bleed in the left panel and I decided to just move that panel from the extra dash that came with the car over:
Worked like a charm but was a terrifying thing to do!
Apparently the spare is an Orange one, mine is red.
So anyway, it worked like a charm!
I also unplugged that damn shift light! My 924S has one too and they drive me crazy.

Nice job on the dash. I bet it feels good to have it fix.

I set out to do a timing belt job on this car and scope creep got me!
The problems started when I couldn't get the crankshaft seal (which was leaking really badly) out using the regular means. Eventually, I was pretty convinced I had screwed up the sealing surface of the Oil pump so I decided to pull the motor and deal with it that way.
Also, I was able to see a few decent oil leaks on the block (which was rusty AF) - including a bit from the Head Gasket. So anyway, I ended up doing the following:
Timing Belt
Water Pump
Thermostat
Rollers
Head Gasket
Valve Stem Seals
Oil Pan gasket
all the top end gaskets.
86'd the vacuum pump and made an aluminum block off plate that looks pretty OEM if I do say so myself
Front struts
Front strut mounts
Clutch, PP, TO Bearing etc.
Did the clutch Hydraulics a month or so ago too.
When I dropped the axles by lifting the car off of the axle/subframe assy, I forgot to disconnect the brake lines and I stretched them tight - which made me super uncomfortable, so I replaced them with stainless too.
Also, I cleaned up and painted everything.
Not done yet, but getting close. Motor is back in and I hope to be able to get it completed later today.
Some pics:
I think I may slow myself down a bit and paint the Brake booster while I have the hydraulic system open.
Top of the radiator too. It will look SO much better in there!

Yeah, that turned in to quite a list. But it'll feel nice having done all of that.

It was either you or me getting this one, and I'm glad you ended up with it. The owners sure were awesome and truly are German car enthusiasts. I am still blown away that this thing was 40 minutes from me and I never knew it until Eric posted about it. I've only driven a handful of CGT's and this one was super nice. The interior and floormats alone are astounding. Cant wait to see this again after all the work you have put into it!!! Graphite CE brothers

Im going to send the old owners pics once the engine bay is back together fully. Hopefully this weekend if a few parts show up!
