Darin's "son's" Project 90...

Post by Audilard »

Dave P picked up a 1990 90 20v and in exchange for the engine we worked out a deal for the rolling chassis. It's not a bad car, but it will need some junk yard parts to clean it up and make it look nice

Put some elbow grease into cleaning it up and then threw on the 17x8 ABTs with 245/40s so see how they looked. Will likely need some 215/40s to make it work without fender mods.

Still need to spend quite a bit of time cleaning up the engine bay, but the glacier blue paint still shines underneath all the goop. A glacier respray will be in the cards at some point

Picked up a cheap B4 hood.

Engine plans are currently a 1.8T. Engine mounts are here, engine in the garage, enough stuff to keep me busy when I get bored. My son actually helped clean it up and it's something to work on together for the next 3 years or so.

Lucky kid! This will be cool to see the progress. Some B4 front fenders would go a long way with the tire clearance, and just the cool-factor of the wider arches.

Awesome. My whole career/passion is based on rebuilding my old 80Q with my dad over the summer when I was 15. I got my hands dirty, learned a lot, and spent some quality time with him. That should be a fun project, and slow enough to keep him out of trouble when he turns 16 :).

Awesome stuff Darin! I hope to do something like this with my (future) kid someday.

It's been fun so far. He helped with the B4 hood installation, cleaning the lower door trims that will go on soon and cleaning the interior. It's fun to give me a task and let him go do it.
