injector choice

Now that my AAN is built and the car is running reliably I'm getting ready to tune for more. I'm hoping to see Marc soon for some of his new tricks. Short term plans are to max my current 3071r. Then upgrade the turbo to something larger to better exploit the engine/clutch.
:drive:
Which injectors would you choose given a $3-400 budget to meet my current needs as well as satisfying my future goals? I prefer to use pump 93, but also have E85 available at a station on my way to work.

Nothing less than something EV14. That would be my main concern. It is hard to find them for that cheap though unless you go used.

I've had great luck with my Siemens Deka 870's (@3bar). Dropping them into your car (@4bar) will be ~1000 cc's of fuel for $300: http://pagparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=587 .

On e85 and at 6 bar, you can get the ev14s to flow 500whp worth of fuel.

My dad picked up essentially new ID1000s for about $400 IIRC from the ex-Tomlinson car part out...

Sorry, I don't know the ideal spray pattern for your cyl head but be sure to the check the latest Genesis 2 injectors too… http://www.usrallyteam.com/index.php?ma ... 20a&page=2

I'd think the ones for the 16v would do the trick. :)

These are the ones that have superior atomization and can get cranked up to high base FP, correct?

They sure are.

These injectors would come in at $475 for five… $75 over budget. But because they can operate at such a wide range of fuel pressures, they'll likely handle a variety of future turbo upgrades. This is actually introductory pricing too - not sure when the Genesis 2 line is expected to go up though...

Those are (well, I'm willing to bet they are anyway) Bosch EV14 injectors, just like ID or FIC versions. The only difference could be in the way they modify (not all sizes have to be modified) and flow them. FIC does them within half a percent of one-another which is nice.

The Genesis 2's are made from scratch - a new and complete designed/built injector rather than a reworked or modified one.

Where are you reading that? I can see the Bosch Part numbers on the injector bodies in their pictures.

You really have to be careful of what you read on the internets huh? People state things like its fact when it really isn't at all! I am guilty of doing this, but I at least try to convey that I'm not totally sure of my answer as I did in my post previous to this one.

Good eye - I'm going from memory on what I thought USRT had commented… I don't have time now but let me see if I can find their actual statement… same or otherwise :)

Yeah, and modified Bosch isn't a derogatory comment. I almost would prefer them to be bosch units originally. These ev14's have taken the tuning market by storm and opened up fueling solutions for everybody.

Yes, the modified Bosch statement wasn't intended to be a bad one. I'd prefer them to be Bosch units as well. A small company simply cannot support the R&D required to keep up with what Bosch is putting out with these. For what it's worth, I got a set of modified Bosch from USRT that was all kinds of fubar'd when I flowed them at FIC. Numbers all over the board. Hopefully they've cleaned that up by now.

Agreed about the Bosch R&D - the EV14's have been what I planned to go with when the time comes. Guys are having great success with the Genesis 2's though. However, my TT225 injectors are working just fine ATM :)

See below for the original posts from USRT…

...A certain other company pushes the latency matching a lot because they modify small injectors to flow more. That works fine to an extent. However, those small injectors have relatively weak solenoids that become more "off" as the flow and pressure demands increase. The Genesis II line is not modified like that. They're built to do what the do from the factory...

...We respect the competition, but know that our solution is far superior. It's got the high flow straight out the box at 3bar with no mods. It's engineered to do what it does vs. being hacked and massaged to get the job done. The droplet size is much smaller and far more consistent. The spray pattern is radically improved...

So not quite what I had related - my apologies. I think the price jump happened already too

They are definitely referring to ID and they make a valid point, one that I've pushed for a while. I'd love to know what exactly they are doing differently as with most of the new stuff, there isn't much to the modification that gets done. The spray nozzle is essentially removed (this was the case a year or two ago at least... some are different now) leaving a very repeatable result, but that isn't enough to get them flow-matched to under 1%. Huge lots allow selection to that degree. Anyway, my point is that I'm curious what exactly USRT is doing differently.
