Parts for old bimmers?

Post by elaw »

Okay I know this isn't an Audi question but it could certainly become a project and this is "the project pad" so...

Do any of you folks know if old BMWs (I'm taking mid-1980s to mid-1990s) have the same issue as old Audis with OE parts being NLA and all the aftermarket parts being junk?

My wife has always had a hankering for an E30 convertible and I'm seeing a few on CL that are reasonably priced yet don't look like total junk...
Be alert! America needs more lerts.

Absolutely not. Every part week be available new or used. Sometimes they might not have the right color, but they always have the part at the very least. If they don't have it, they will start producing it again at some point, it's just a matter of time. A brand that supports it's enthusiasts, what a revelation!

BMW is great about supplying parts for the older models. I read that you can get over 95% of the parts needed to build a 1602/2002 model! Mercedes is another manufacture that heavily supports their older model vehicles.
