AAN to o7k piston question
AAN to o7k piston question
So I bought some very nice Mahle pistons for AAN in 83mm bore with a designed compression of 8.7:1
knowing that o7k wrist pins are the same and everything, would these pistons work in an o7k? and if so what would be the difference in compression due to the different stroke.
They are dished but I do not remember the capacity of the dish.
I just really don't want to buy another set of pistons if these can work

Re: AAN to o7k piston question
Unfortunately no, the stroke on the 07k is longer than the aan, sorry
Re: AAN to o7k piston question
Are the pistons just too tall?
is valve clearance the issue?
that's a bummer as I know I wont be able to get o7k pistons this nice for the same price

Re: AAN to o7k piston question
The 07k uses 144mm rods like the AAN, so that causes the wrist pin to be higher up on the piston. You could go with custom rods if the valve clearance and dish area would work out. Sell the pistons and get the right ones for the 07k. Here is why
-Proper quench area, the 07K combustion chamber is far superior to the 034 motors, so you don't want to compromise this
-Mahle makes great drop in pistons. If the bores are in good shape, and most are, you just need a very light brush if the bores if anything, and a slight deck of the block to clean it up and get proper deck height.
-Not sure how the 07k Headgaskets work with 83mm. They should work, but most people are not using this size.

Re: AAN to o7k piston question
You can get them through IROZ, IE, and INA that I know of. Might take a phone call.

See, all you had to do is ask

Re: AAN to o7k piston question
Wait, so 07k wrist pins are the same as AAN and 3B?

Re: AAN to o7k piston question
AAN uses 20mm, 07K uses 21mm wrist pins
