Wheel Opinion on My b3

Looking for wheels for my 90q. I have a few styles that I really like, but there isn't much out there, as we all know.

What do you guys think about these in 16x8, I like how they look on the corrado, which has similar style to a 90.

I am considering this set of 3 piece compotives, but they are 16x8.5 and 7.5 with crazy 4" lips on the rears. I love this type of wheel, but this is a little too hella flush for me with those lips. I also prefer to have the same wheels and tires front to back.

Wheel lips are easy enough to change on multi-piece wheels. Of course this can get expensive. I like the wheel design shown.

i realize lips can be changed, but im trying to get setup without anything too crazy. I do LOVE the style of those compotives on an old german car, but they might be a little too fancy for my daily driver on horrible roads.

The wheels shown on the corrado are available new and in whatever offset I need, so they might be a decent option. I am liking the style of them, they look a little small for 16's, but I think small looks good on a b3.

I like the first ones, similar to the wheels on your old 90

i agree jim. I like that look apparently. Those wheels on the corrado can be purchased, but there is some question of weather or not they will clear the fat g60 calieprs. Going to measure up tonight, and order a set if they really do fit.

Ha, I have a set of those Compomotive ps601 headed my way as we speak. Not as crazy of lips though. Seems like there are some companies that do make lips for them so they can be resized.

Hmm, do you have a link that might take me to where I could find lips? I cant deal with a 4" lip. Would be very silly on a b3 rear fender arch (or lack thereof)

god I like these wheels a lot, I can get them for a decenti-sh price, but would have to buy new lips for the back. I dont think im dope enough to pull off the staggered look.

Not exactly the wheel your looking at, but will give you an idea of what they would look like with 215/45/16 tires.

i think i have to pass on those compomotives, the lips make them poke about an inch or so I think. New 2" lips all around would do it, but also cost an extra 600 bones or so.

I'll be selling my 16x7.5? ABT A23 eventually since I'll be converting to 5-lug. If I can find another set of cheap/free 4x108 15" to roll the car around on then I could sell them now if you're interested. Not the 3pc look of the Compos, but similar. With too tall tires on my B4:

Darin's with 17" version (he might still have a set for sale, he had a couple )

I still have the set of gunmetal. As soon as the wide body urs4 fenders are on they will be for sale. They won't fit a b3 90 though....without some fenders mods. Fit awesome on a CQ!

I think I need to stick with 16's. I just dont think 17's look right on a stock body b3 with its negative fender flares. I am leaning more toward the very first wheels pictured in 16x8 et30. Still not sure if they will clear the chunky g60 calipers, working with manufacturer on that now.

another option, quality is probably suspect.

these are available in the right size, and would def fit. But they are 17's, and need a 205/40 tire. Not sure how they would look on my car. Thoughts?

17" wheels look odd on a B3. That's just my opinion though.

those are pretty bold looking 17's as well.

I think those 1552 Tarmacs look good on just about anything, that would be my vote although I understand the size is not ideal.

i like the tarmacs, but i just am not sure i like them for a b3, especially in 17. They are a "big" looking 17 too, make the b3 look like a toy. It has ZERO fender arch to swallow the look of a big wheel. I think it needs something squatty, like the 15" OEM Speedlines but a bit beefier.

Stateside wheels Dana, they can make you any size lip and barrel you want. I vote compomotive.
I picked these up for the 4k, they are dual drilled and currently on my mkii...Image

the compomotives are my first choice, but getting them here from germany and then getting them set up to actually fit my car would make them a pretty pricey option.

1552 forumla TR is a close second, but having trouble figuring out if they will fit the g60 brakes.

Stateside wheel has some awesome stuff on their facebook page, I sent them a message. Prices seem decent too.

so it looks like I am getting the fifteen52 tarmac tr shown on the corrado. in 16x8 et30. Trying to figure out tires. i am 99% sure a 205 45 will fit, but its stretched a bit on 8" rim. I know people have done it, but i would prefer a 225 45 16 or even 215 45 16.

Anyone have experience? I have run a 225 45 16 on my big turbo 90, but i had extended bump stops, coilovers, and b4 front fenders. Plus I dont remember what wheel offsets I had. It never rubbed, but its not a very good comparison.

The picture I posted earier is with 215/45/16's with a 35 offset. This is mine with a 37 offset. I think they are only 7.5" wide though.
Image

In both pics, the 80q's are running B&G S2 lowering springs. Is an ET30 more in or out and ET35? The 35 pretty much sat flush on the red one.
