Whats it worth?

Post by WI-3B-200 »

Looking at buying a kiddie hauler. The question is what is a 95.5 S6 Avant manual, with the third row seat and 346K miles worth. I realize pictures would make this question easier but the ones I've gotten are poor. There seems to be some rust on the doors and the hatch as is common. Maintenance records are vague to non existent. Seller says new clutch in the last year along with brakes and struts. Hasn't done the timing belt only owned it for a year but it "looks good".

KBB and Edmond's say significantly less than what he's asking. I don't want to insult him with my offer, but I don't think there's much of a collector's market out side of this small group.

He is asking 4500 I was thinking 2-2500 thoughts.
And if by some chance your on here could you send me more pics of the car.

my gut says 2500, 4500 would have to be pretty decent, 8-10k would be a really nice example.
current:
-mk4 tdi wagon with some mods
-TDI b3 90q, holset turbo, be strong little connecting rods!
-the turbo tractor
past:
-11 second 90q junker
-20vt swapped 90q winter beater
-efi 20vt 4kq
-way too many other long gone urs's, 200's 4000's, b5's

That's about where I'm at with it. I get that's it's a pretty unique example with a 5 speed and the 3rd row seat. But we're still talking about 347,000 miles, rust, and spotty maintenance at best. The only reason I'm looking is because I have a soft spot for the I5 as most of us do. If it was a solid body and had maintenance records or parts receipts it would be different.

Yeah, $4500 is too much. What and that mileage just don't do it. For reference, my 200 20v avant cost me close to 6k, but it has no rust, 230k, and came with over $16k of impeccable maintenance records (and that was only over 5 years or so).

Just sold my rust free but bad paint 95.5 S6 Avant with 276k and all records from new for $5k. I'd say around 2500 is about right, you'll probably have a bunch of maintenance to do. Hard market to judge, I've seen really beat avants sell for 4500 and rusty ones sit forever at 3k.

I agree with the posts/valuations above...The only thing it really has going for it is that its an avant. Value really will depend on what maintenence is required as that can match the value of the car pretty easily at this point.

I get that's it's a pretty unique example with a 5 speed and the 3rd row seat.

And just to clarify as I'm not sure exactly what you meant by the comment above, but all urS6 avants in NA were manual with a 3rd row seat. So the unique part stops at urS6 Avant.
