Any of you cold weather folks use propane space heaters?

I'm considering getting one of the bucket shaped ones instead of worrying about the torpedo setting my wooden barn on fire

I've got one of the bucket ones, it worked well in my old two car garage. Granted Seattle winters are usually pretty mild, but I had the garage in the 60's when it was probably 30 outside. Haven't used it in my new garage as it has an oil furnace.

I've got an octagon shaped Mr Heater one. If your space is insulated reasonably well, they're pretty efficient! After an initial 10-15 minute blast, 5-10mins/hr is enough to keep me comfortable, even at -20˚C or worse.

I've used them as a "mobile" solution working on other peoples stuff. Even now though, I'll take my Knipco(kerosene) over just about anything haha. Aside from an insulated shop with infloor heat
My setup now is a 24x48 uninsulated pole barn with concrete and walls that let daylight in in spots haha! I found last year that hanging painters plastic to close in a third or so of it that I work in did wonders for keeping the heat in. Last year I worked out there in -10-20* and it wasn't horrible. Who am I kidding... Yes it was. It completely sucked but luckily my heater was on wheels and just followed me around hahaha.

Just remember to be safe. A portable propane heater uses up the Oxygen and puts out CO2, so don't use it too long in a confined space.

We've been without power for 8-Days now due to a massive windstorm that knocked out power for 180,000 people. I"ve been using a Ceramic Propane fired heater in the home for quite a while. My CO Detector hasn't beeped once. These are Very "Similar" to the Ceramic indoor heaters that are actually rated for indoor use.
This is what is certified for indoor use. Nice little units.

I was not talking about CO, but CO2, which is not detected by a CO Detector. You would need a detector for oxygen content in the air. If you notice the specs on the ceramic heater, it has a low oxygen shut off.
You burn O2 and you get CO2. The amount of oxygen in the air is reduced to the point, you pass out.
