Sean's A3 2.0t quattro DSG

Post by Quattro v1.0 »

I had to do some sort of mod before posting.
I purchased a completely stock local southwest A3 2.0t DSG quattro, 55k mile service just completed by Audi Henderson.

I did the tint ASAP, added a Stage I United Motorsport tune with accompanying DSG flash las week done by Iroz Motorsport.
I had my 18x8 OZ UL's stripped and powder coated by Snail Motorsports here in Vegas and wrapped them with RE760's
I cut the color matched quattro graphics in my shop.

I got my TTRS brakes so those will get mounted up soon, but I'm shopping for coil-overs at the moment - either that or I'll put Q3 badging on it and call it good.

This is a fairly base model, no roof, no racks, no S-Line. ...which makes it a good candidate for an RS3 inspired build. Right down to the 5 cylinder swap

Wheels and decals are looking good!

What coils are you going for? KW? Bilstein?

I was working on getting a set of Bilstein PSS10's but the seller went quiet a week ago so those may have fallen though.

Im open for suggestion on the coil overs, I don't think I have the wallet for a new set of KW's or PSS10's so I'd like to hear about some of the others - ST's, Spax, Ksport, etc.

ST are made by KW, just aren't galvanized. In your climate, I'd think that's hardly a deal breaker.

I've also heard good things about Vogtland, and they rode pretty good on my brother's mk4 Jetta before he went with Bilstein PSS.

Depending on your preference for ride height and ability to dial in the compression/rebound... the PSS coilers might be another good option for you.

Can confirm

a3 looked slick for the 30 seconds I saw it in person, Sean. Looks slick in pictures as well.
I was really interested in them for a while but I never felt comfortable in them when I test drove them, always felt cramped for some reason.

Nice car, I was looking at these for my girlfriend before we settled on the X3. She just needed more space. Otherwise, I would have really loved for her to have one of these with DSG! Great car.

SRS ABOUT 5 CYL SWAP?!?

Lol, I was not saying it was a bad thing. I do wish it could be better than 50% rear bias.

I have been around A3's before, but I finally was able to get the right deal at the right time on one that I liked. I lean towards smaller cars for my daily driver, I guess just about all of my drivers really.

I don't really have a dog in the quattro vs haldex fight. My MkI TT was a bit annoying as it was the earliest version of that drivetrain but even stock I know this A3 is better than that. That being said, Im going to take full advantage of the tuning capabilities that are available for this one.

Re: 5 cyl swap, think back to Hanks 2009 TTs 07k project ;o) And then harass him to keep moving forward on it, I think it should be the 'car of Battle Born' this year.

Now that I have all of my parts, I will need something to harass him about :)

Cool car, did you ditch the Fiat?

Yea, Jimmy, leave him alone for a while!

But yea, I traded off the Abarth. It was nearly 3 years, and most of my friends know my attention span ;o]
