Two thumbs up for Pirtek!

So, long story short, I managed to forget to adjust the physical orientation of the new clutch line on a customer's urS6 after I reinstalled the transmission, even after bleeding it! (This is why shops don't want visitors and customers in the work area, aside from safety concerns - distractions are a bitch!) I wished the owner well and set off doing my own thing until I got a call 5 minutes later from a perturbed sounding S6 owner stranded a mile and a half away... I managed to limp the S6 back to the shop to assess the damage: soft portion of the $200 line abraded against the inboard CV :bangshead: Of course this clutch line is different than any of the 6 different clutch lines I have in stock, and normal off-the-shelf unions and adapters from my FLAPS all have the wrong flare, of course. A quick 30 minute drive to the closest Pirtek counter with the damaged line in hand, and 5 minutes later, left with a completely new line with new fittings all for $35.

The best part of this experience was we didn't get to Pirtek until 5:30. When we arrived we found the front door propped wide open, and someone greeted us at the counter and helped us right away. It wasn't until we were leaving did we see the hours listed on the door: 8am-4:30pm! Apparently they were having a district meeting at this location when we got there, but not once did anyone complain, tell us they were closed or tell us to get lost and come back tomorrow. This is the definition of exemplary customer service and I vow to give these guys all my hydraulic hose business from here on out. In fact, I'm dropping off fittings for my oil cooler tomorrow. If you have a need for a hydraulic hose or brake line and you have a Pirtek counter nearby, try them first!
