VEMS....Do you guys like it?

I have swapped an H6 EZ30R into a 2000 Impreza wagon. It was a long learning curve and getting help was difficult since it was the first H6 swap using VEMS.
My question is, how is the support for the I5 AAN engine? Any base maps out their?

hah! I imagine it will be an entirely different experience. You have support all over the place, including (semi) locally

The AAN is probably the best supported platform for VEMS in North America. You will have no problems here.

Yep, agreed. VEMS is the only way to go with an Audi I5.

Tis not bad but be aware of the crank trigger issues if you have an alu flywheel. If you are pulling the clutch you might want to go the 60-2 wheel route for crank trigger.

That is true, but it seems to be handled well by VEMS, perhaps with an inelegant mod to the crank sensor.
It should be noted that it's not a VEMS weakness, but rather a weird setup by Bosch. Other standalones are challenged by this "tri trigger" setup too, especially by the Audi 5 cylinder version. On the others (Porsche 944 and 911) you can at least run in wasted spark, meaning you don't need a cam signal.

Hmm, not sure what inelegant mod you are referring to?
I'm talking about the tdc signal pin off an alu wheel where it is not magnetic enough at starting rpms. I've grinded my bracket so it's closer, no dice, bought a new aftermarket one, worse. Can't add metal weld to metal pin since flywheel was 0'd. It worked flawlessly on mac computers so yes, VEMS issue. People talk about grounds but i've tried everything cept swapping the alternator. I had to resort to ecu mod with a relay that opens up the clamp so tdc gets read via the cam sensor only. Once engine starts it's fine. There should be some user settings were we can adjust the tdc sensor's gain.
If you're talking about some sort of ecu mod, lmk i'd be very interested.

The inelegant mod I was referring to was to add a glob of metal to the pin, which you know about.
Getting the 3 triggers to play well together was a problem for Megasquirt, and, earlier, with Vipec on the Porsche 944. It can work on all of them, eventually.

Ahh, ok thanks, yea if i would have known beforehand i would have welded a glob to the pin.

Its my car the subaru h6 with vems, Normally with vems(with other car than audi), the real support come from vems HU?
For the h6 for sure it was the first or second with vems so I had not alot of support vs link/vipec who already did this swap and support it with some good information! For sure with a audi it would be easier hehe
For the guys in canada,east-canada, there is a good tuner who know vems very well?
