Building an ABH/ABZ hybrid

Long story short. I'm scrapping my 93 V8 due to a plethora of issues.

I'm pulling the engine this weekend and am going to save it and Clem it up for a future project.

The engine itself is in pretty good condition. 127k miles, good compression, etc.

Whatever I put the engine in is bound to be a smaller chassis car, either a coupe (if I can find one cheap enough with a good interior/exterior) or my Cabriolet which is (obviously) non Quattro but in really good condition inside and out - plus already manual swapped.

For that reason, I will need to scrap the distributors. I found an A8 at the local pull and pay today and grabbed this stuff...

So a bunch of questions,
Other than the above stuff from the ABZ (valve covers, coils, intake manifold, throttle body, valley pan) what should I grab?

Do I need the engine harness from the A8?
I am assuming that I'll need to go standalone for this engine setup right? If so, is VEMS the easiest option?

What all do I need to grab from the V8 before I scrap it?

I forgot to mention, there was a thread from Doug or "islingtonaudi" building just such an engine on Marc's forum within EFIExpress. It's now a dead link. Is there a link to that thread anywhere?
