Ed's 1991 CQ: Progress!

So a few weeks ago Hybrid_Hatch asks me if I’m interested in a 1991 CQ, after finding out what 1991 CQ I sent the owner a txt and put a check in the mail!
Now I am in UT for pickup and to, finally, meet the locals, hopefully the drive back is not too snowy since I am supposed to be in Vail around 4pm and home for the kids bedtime. Nothing worse than being stuck in snow traffic with Quattro!
Just drove the urQ and Daves S2, both are impressive.
Plans for this car are much the same as with my 1990: SEMS, Holset, E85, IC, drive to work/track/etc and seat 5.

I just stopped to stretch off of 6 a bit north of 70.
The idea is to be in Denver around dinner/'bedtime' so I did not publicize the trip; next time!
Yes, some parts are in the back.
Thanks Darin, and Dave, the Coupe will have a great home in CO!

Glad you seem happy so far Ed. I was worried since our only communication regarding the coupe was via text and pm. Man, it looks good in pictures.....*sigh*

Well...by my calculations, it seems about time to fire up the 3B/AAN vs 7AT debate

I do not have an AAN in the hatch

Top speed=not fast enough; lots of construction on 6....in Frutia for 'lunch'.

Very nice add to the collection Ed.
Let's get together one day we're only a few miles apart..
Can't wait to see it..

Yes! Now that the weather is more tolerable all of us Denver area <B5 people need to meet up!
The collection may very well end up being one CQ in the end. As much as having two is appealing, I barely have room for one at the moment. Also, the mod fund has been depleted ;D
I ended up getting home around 9pm. Traffic was really a killer, I may have been better off on HWY 40.
The car performed great; as much as we put down the 7a it really does a job and was able to maintain a reasonable speed over Vail and Eisenhower passes. I really would have liked to have some boost when an S5 ripped past me on the way up to 'Evahboost'; oh well, not the greatest area to test the speed traps.

Finally got that S2 front bumper! ;-) That pic of this CQ looks strikingly similar to the one from your last pilgrimage to pick up a CQ....

I love the stance of this one. What's it got for suspension?

The vista pic of the 1990 was in Southern UT off of 15 this one was more central off of 6. It would have been cool to have gotten them in the same spot!
Brent, the springs are H&Rs not sure about the struts.

NIce looking car Ed! Congrats! FWIW, in the future US-40 is the best way to SLC. I-80 can be fast, but also sux. I-70 is too many more miles...

I was tempted by 40 but the weather was questionable (silly with Quattro, I know). I've done 80 and it is too straight for me. Looks like 40 would have been 40 miles shorter.
40 would have been much more fun!

the struts i believe to be oem in nature. they have oem caps (so not bilstien) and don't have external adjustment so i don't believe they are koni.

Makes sense, I had not really looked to see if they were Bilstien but I did notice that they were not adjustable. I'll probably go urS Bilstiens with BBSEs.

Will it make an appearance at the Erie G2G or what?! ;-) (oh, and when is that little get-together anyway?)
