i love your cq! its one of the hottest ones around!

CAn't that piece of wood trim be removed from the airbag itself, or just the airbag remove from the bracket? I thought it could but it's been a long while since I've pulled parts.

Glad I got a Stg 3+ now...not that mine will ever get fricken' done! or have forced induction for that matter lol. Did you ever get dyno'ed? thought I saw some mention of that earlier(?).

*edit* dyno week of the 20th...(helps to read Josh)...wait, it's passed the 20th. :slap:

Is that the Bilzcat kit?

Darin: I've got an S6 wheel that will eventually be going on the car.

speedydtp247, the dash is from a b4 90q, no CQ's came with passenger airbags.

Justin: There are some special anti-tamper bolts holding the airbag guts into the case but it might be possible to extract it. If I did that, I'd still need to modify the outer case to allow room for the ecu connectors. Its a reasonably big space, so its tempting.

no dyno yet, the car simply wasn't ready. Hoping to jump on after an upcoming vacation around the 19th.

Brinskan: Yes, Bilzcat kit, probably the last one since it actually came off his black CQ!

i see, sorry i didnt read the part that you swapped to b4 dash thats above your pic of your dad. do you really have to swap to a b4 dash in order to use the manual climate controls?

Nope, the dash I wanted because mine was cracked anyway and so Semple gave me a good deal on it with the rest of the stuff.

i see. is there a way you can just remove the air bag dash cover and mount it to the dash w/o the air bag attach to it? then you could have clearence for your ecu to mount behind it?

its going to require surgery to extract the faceplate of the airbag module from the airbag itself. Even after doing this, the 'cage' that holds the airbag module isn't quite big enough for the ecu and its connectors to fit in there. But its close... Might be possible to 'make it fit'.

Just got back from my Alaskan cruise, as a diehard motorgeek, I still checked the geek as we were leaving Seattle ;)

Image

I had a great time, but started right back in on the coupe as soon as I got back. Do you think its time to start panicking about being ready for Tremblant on the 29th?

Image

Image

Since the subframes and propshaft were out anyway and my new clutch and flywheel friction discs had arrived I decided to go ahead and drop the tranny.

Image

here you can see some of the heat scoring from the slippage that was going on (sorry about the corrupted pic, I'm beginning to wonder if its my camera or the memory cards. It seems to do it with any card in the slot every 30th picture or so :( )

Image

Powdercoating shop wont be done with my subframes and swaybars till the end of the week. Gonna be tight!

Weird about zee camera.

How long did it take you to drop the transmission? Just curious.

Progress is good though, hopefully its all done for the event :)

Sheesh, thats cool!

Ive never pulled a quattro transmission, only many DSM transmissions and one Mk3 Jetta (for an auto to manual swap).

Sounds fun, project is really looking nice. Im just ever so slightly jealous!

Welcome back Mark and glad to see you are back into it already :)

I would offer to help but I am moving house at the mo, even so LMK if there is anything I can do. (cant lend the van for the 29th though as I am using it to move that weekend, trailer is available though)

Cheers

its in the pic... still attached to the clutch (underneath it) :)

You re-used your pressure plate when you went from 3 to 3+, right? I'm a little concerned about mine. I can feel a slight ridge on it and I cant see an easy way of machining it. Its likely slght enough that it will be fine...

My coupe is now rockin' red underwear:

Image

In the back anyway, I haven't installed the front subframe yet as I want to wait until after the tranny goes back in. I found it much easier to remove the tranny with it out.

Image

New pressure plate arrived today overnighte'd thanks to 034, you guys rock my motoring world.

shot comparing the new pressure plate to the heat scored/warped unit I pulled:

This weekend is gonna be *busy*

red undies look familiar... continuing theme of hotness 8)

so you are actually doing a clutch "downgrade" at least as far as performance "stage" :?

edit >> going from stage ?? to stage 3+ :?

from stage 3, to stage 3+. 3+ is good for 500+hp, should be fine for a motor with stock internals and still give me nice pedal feel.

According to the guys at Spec, 3+ is good till 411 ft lbs tq....They also said its stronger then stg 4.....(Whats the point of stg 4 then?)
