Is it done yet?

Quit showing off the KWs already and get this back on the road! I gotta say, I will be a bit jealous of all that rubber when you are rolling again. Nice!!

You could gain another couple millimeters if you switch to heim joint tie rods.

Those 235/40's are more like a 245, so what's another 10mm? I can get the fronts to work...

I think I'll sell my other ABT's with the 235/40 Dunlop Star Specs. 17x8 25mm offset. Gotta buy some Azenis!!

They look aggressive and are cheap enough, but i dislike the 615's a fair amount. Poor performing tire for me.

The 245/40/17 tire is quickly becoming irrelevant in the tire market. There are fewer and fewer options out there for that size. The best tire in that size was the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs, which Dunlop is no longer making. Those are what I really want, but won't be able to find that tire anymore. I can't find anything really comparable. Here is that tire on my wheels in 245/40/17.

Ventus R-S3

Where did you get the info the direzza is discontinued? I am gonna keep my tirerack eyes peeled for when those go on clearance. There are still lots of 245-40-17 tires though, far more than 255-40-17s. I really liked the hankook v12s. Awesome budget tire, and 255-40-17s fit well on 8" wide wheels. The direzzas in 255s are too wide for a 8 wide imo.

Tirerack already lists them as discontinued and you can't find that tire in 245 anymore.

I just went to two EVCOs and they weren't any help. The only -6 fittings they had were brass with yellow caps. Guess I'll order from Summit.

I like the HTRZIII, cheap, good treadwear.

I second the v12's. Got a set from tirerack with a $80 or $100 rebate a while back, great bang for your buck.

FWIW I have RS3's on the track Miata and they're great. Stick well and wear well both.

Got it all together and went to start it. It cranks over just fine, but the fuel lines aren't pressurizing. After some cranking I check the fuel rail lines and there is not fuel in the line.

Might wanna look at the pump. Going lean at WOT would explain a lot. Jump it with 12v and see if it runs

Good news. Got it fired up. Bad news. It's blowing white smoke like a locomotive.

Blown head gaskets always smoke until you get the coolant burned out of the exhaust

Darin, did it smoke right away after starting, or after running a bit and getting some heat in the exhaust? If the latter, then it its probably just coolant from you prior mishap burning off, as Brent said. I had the latter happen after a headgasket issue on my 3b 90.

It got more smoke as it warmed up and I let it run for a while at about 3k rpms. It has tapered off significantly so I hope it's just about all burnt off.

I'm sure it'll be fine :) glad you had some wrench time, especially this close to Christmas!

Speaking of white smoke behind cars, mine did that the other day... :(
