Way to go on securing an AAN! It"ll be nice knowing a fellow 4kq20vt is only a couple hours from me.

AAN uses a DV.

The advantages of BOV, and DV. Well if you are going to retain stock engine harness and computer I'd stick with DV it'll make the computer happy. I'd almost do the same with standalone too even though it isn't requried do to a MAP sensor instead of MAF. DV are quiter and give a more Woosh sound instead of the loud chirp of BOV.

I like my Forge twin piston BOV but sometimes wish I'd stick to DV. I only went BOV because my DV went tits up and I was going MS. It also allowed me to ditch some of the stock hoses to clean up the engine bay.

Keep plugging away at your project and you'll be driving the car sooner than you know!

Thanks for the vote of confedence!!! I am slowly but surely plugging away at it. I guess sense I got a decent DV for cheap I will stick with it! I hope to be driving by mid to late summer, but have a raft of parts to buy.

I am really torn on whether to go with 034 IIc or the stock system. Eventually (maybe this summer) go to a Precision 5851E-B turbo with the 034DP and header. I was hoping if I went with the latter I could send off the ecu for a flash. If not I guess I am stuck with the IIc.

Of course before the engine is going in I am installing Inegrated Engineering rod/Je piston combo with the 034 springs and retainers. Maybe once I am on road we should road trip to waterland or somthing. I have been to Moscow a few times my sister transfered from EOU to UofI. It's a nice place.

Thanks! :P ... About time I do somthing REAL! Taken me long enough. :bashtard:

Next week or so I will be dropping some big coin on internals and bushings WOOT and if I get really really excited maybe I will buy my turbo/header/DP setup from 034. My wallet is going to hate me after that.

So are you doing a full rebuild? Any history on the motor itself? Come from a running car or one that hasnt run in a while?

Looks good!

I bought it from a board member. Has 200+ thousand miles on it but when it was in the car it ran. Today I also pulled the tbelt cover off and it all looked good. But anyways It is getting a full rebuild . I am pretty set on Integrated Engineering Rods with JE piston combo off thier site also planning on 034 HD Springs and Titanium Valve spring retainers with a bunch of other goodies.

hahaha no she came to me that way. Tail-less. Between that and her crossed eyes she has the worste balence ever  Funny to watch

Nice engine stand. I have the same one.

Works pretty slick for 50 bucks plus ship :-D

Nope have to get the engine to the machine shop before I order. We gotta figure out what piston size I am going to run. The JE pistons and the IE rods I am buying in a "combo" :P

Got my water mani all welded up today. Please go easy on the weld critisism. First time I have ever welded aluminium with a spool gun. Let me just say pre-heating it would have been a great idea. I have only Tig welded aluminium before today. ( it is water tight so that's what counts right?) :bashtard:

Don't worry about the appearance of the welds. I have never seen attractive-looking aluminum MIG welds.

Pre-heat would help, but I would preheat only the area where the welding starts. Heat will spread fast enough. Chamfering helps a lot, too. When I weld aluminum of any thickness above sheet metal, I chamfer the ends, almost to an edge. Also, the piece looks to be clean, but thorough removal of the casting skin is essential.

You probably know most or all of that if you have welded aluminum before.

Well just got done loading up the AAN to head up to the machine shop tomarrow. :-D I am having them assemble it because I live on a dirt road and only have a carport SOOO I don't think all the dust and dirt would very nice things to my engine hahaha. SO I shall have it back in a month or so.

The plan is the 034 Valve springs, ARP goodness, Autotech cam gear from 034, IE Rods and JE pistons. :-D So while the engine is gone getting work done I have a crap ton to do to get the car ready. This plus all my classes and work... :bashtard: I am going to be one busy guy for the next month. :P But it will be SOOOO worth it!
