they are "clean" :( that's the ruined paint that the adhesive has left me.... the trunk spoiler needs to be painted, so likely i have that and the back section of the trunk painted at some point and maybe even fix a couple little other knicks and dings.

hmm, i thought i replied to this earlier, but i guess it didn't come through.

it seems to be ok at the moment, it's a little rich on start up, but clears out and idles cleanly. the issue i have at hand is once it warms up, and the fan kicks on, the voltage drop sometimes kills it... sometimes not. no rhyme or reason... :wtf:

today was a holiday and so i couldn't register it... in the morning though :) it's insured btw :woowoo:

got the same issue with my 90 turbodiesel, after cleaning and polishing more dan once it still says: Audi 90 Turbodiesel on the trunk :(

Looks great Derek!

Before I Rain-x the glass, I clean it with Windex and 0000 (4 zero) steel wool. It won't scratch, and it will get everything off.

yeah, i've used steel wool and rubbing compound before. these windows were already pretty clean, so no worries there 8)

So, certain steel wool wont work? Ive wanted to try this.

I clean my windshield with BonAmi bathroom cleaner. Works awesome at getting everything off, and doesn't leave a residue if you rinse well.

Wash the car, bon ami the glass, re-rinse the car and follow your normal procedures from there.

I disagree, in my experience if you wax your car at the proper interval (every month or two) clay barring is not needed on a recurring basis.

However, I don't know how much pollution you get in the rain in Indiana, I know that was a problem in Saint Louis for me.

Ive only claybar'ed the car once. I think once before winter and once after it is appropriate enough. Thats what Ive been told by some people who know alot more about this stuff than I do (I dont know much about paint, body work, or detailing!).

Once before the crappy snow/rust belt stuff hits, and once after! :D

she was registered this morning, and her maiden voyage was to NAPA!!! hahaha. seems to be running alrighty. i live on a hill, so on the way back up i eased into a little boost :D :D can't wait to get everything dialed and broken in... then for some fun rides 8)

D3R3K I was thinking your stalling/rpm drop when the fan kicks in may be from the battery being a little weak from not driving regularly.... might just dissapear with more regular use?

could be the voltage regulator or grounding. I'm fighting a similar issues and I drive my car daily. I've been looking at a grounding kit and perhaps even the addition of a capacitor.

i have plenty of grounding. my main ground straps are 1/0 wires, and they all have fresh connections that are greased as they weren't put together that long ago.

can't wait to hear how the handling works out...

sure you are gonna love it, it would be a perfect car to drive back across country to make up for the stock - Carolina Zermatt trip :-)

once i get it all buttoned up and ironed out... any motorgeeker is welcome for a ride 8) driving it down to napa today, i think i like how the suspension is setup... firm, but still compliant for bumps. it's also stinkin' quiet.... man :P oh well. who know's where i'll go from here :)

Get a new axle seal as well. You'll replace those two parts with 3 parts. The round gear, the gear that replaces the pickup, and the cap that threads in where the pickup went and holds the pickup gear.
