Wife and I went and saw Rush last night in the 4k. GO SEE IT. Everything went great except for two little random trigger losses on the highway while cruising. No more the whole night though so I'm putting them off just as flukes. Then I let my wife take it to her sister's place where she proceeded to flog the shit out if it, ignoring the backfire at 6300rpm.

That right there is bad to the bone awesome man! I'm glad to hear both of you are out enjoying the car! BTW: I really want to see RUSH too!

One good thing about traffic on a two lane highway is passing. After the geo and even the jetta TDI I have to get used to being able to pass in about 100 meters. 350-400hp in a 2800lb car makes passing go by in a blink.

Plus lifting right beside the passee so they get FFFSSSSSHH! from the bov is fun

Fixed the backfire, but killed another coil. Good thing I got 2! I had the windows down today. Maybe I should stop doing blow-off -valve flybys.

Just make sure you aren't in top gear when you go to pass so you can lift, release pressure, then grab the next gear and be gone in a flash...

It feels great, doesn't it? I just got back from a pointless drive in my coupe and feel accomplished! I'm really glad to hear you have your car up and running Matt.

Oh goodness, it feels so good Toph. I love the drive to school again. I just washed it, first time since Carlisle at the show! Now I can tune the last 1k rpm and turn up the boost to 23psi.

Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to roll the fenders with my buddy and body guy, Andrew. Can't wait to drop this bish back down!

Damn, still getting those random misses... always under cruise/light load, never under heavy or even semi heavy acceleration. Just a total loss of trigger. Gonna have to check out those grounds again I guess.

why are you killing coils? check your dwell settings?

They would be whatever base map is. So... 2? I'll look when I leave school. I've been reading the 034 coils should only need 1 ms at idle and 2.5ish at full boost.

Ah never mind, that's multipliers. 1x at vacuum and to 1 bar, and 2.5x for full boost. Base dwell around 2.5.

Rolled the fenders today with Andrew (okay, andrew did the rolling, I did the grunt work). no rub! even over big bumps

So my dwell settings are standard. The pulse width in logs appears to be around 10 or so way up at 6-7krpm. And lower down low. I don't know man, I'll post a log. It's time to retire the car back to the shop anyway seeing as how the ignition problem is slowly returning. What the FUNK.

Today I also blew a coolant hose, the one coming out of the back of the block. And of course it was the first day I started carpooling with someone. "Maybe next week we'll take my truck..." ugh. I got the cam for my Jetta so I'll be putting that in tonight and will relegate the 4k back to shop piece of shit.

absolutely love the car dude the type A's couldn't look better on your car - hopefully you resist the urge to keep turning things up :).

We are always here waiting for good HQ videos of the 4k...

What a nice car... but DAMN do I hate those wheels...lol :shame:

Dwell settings look good, maybe it was just coincidence you fried back to back coils

So I put my ignition under the rain tray. Really cleans it up back there and gets the coils away from the heat. I know it didn't look like it in the pic, but it's way better! Also hooked the speedo back up and figured out that I need a new alternator. Replaced the voltage regulator and it didn't do much of anything so I'll be putting a new alt in tomorrow or Monday since I have to dd this car a little more (cam for TDI was wrong one... good day today)

Swapped the alternator out last night with a friend and we took her for a ride. He said "it's fast enough" and that it "literally feels like a time warp from the movies" when boost hits and you get thrown back. I think it's driving better now than it ever has. I just have to figure out my coolant temp gauge.

So do I leave it at 20psi? :)

I really think that the coils being under the rain tray away from the heat helps a lot. I also moved the coil ground from a chassis and engine ground in one to just a chassis ground. And the new plug wires from Marc and better/cleaner routing. The trigger drop appears to be totally gone. So whatever did it, I am happy. Siiiiiiick yo

Sweet. Leave it at 20 for a while. Drive something slow as often as possible to make driving the audi that much more rewarding.

I tried to play with a Vette the other day... coming out of construction one lane opened up to two. Had a big gap in front, moved over, waited until he was beside me and stepped on it, no dice. I drive slow so when he went past I looked over... wouldn't look at me or anything lol. Damn four door sedan with roof racks.

On a good note, my 4FOXSN8X plate was eventually approved! Can't wait for it to come in.

Cool... I was going to get B4Q TDI for the 90... but at $250 I can spend that in other places.. :)
Glad you are having fun with the car. We are going to be in Stayner this Sunday, not sure the weather will be any good for a drive further north.

Cheers
