So the Blue Pill sat out this year's trip to Pikes Peak but made one final journey as a 20v car for this years Battle Born event.
In a concerted effort with Iroz Motorsport, we'll be pulling the 20v to make room for several under-hood upgrades. Normally I don't succumb to peer pressure, however I'm finally giving in and going 20v. Seeing how you can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a 20v UrQ we are opting for something a little more interesting. Details to follow, but some saw a preview of what's to come at Battle Born.
In the mean time this will give me a chance to finally take care of some other under-hood projects. Convert to Vac-assist brakes, strip and repaint the engine bay, re-configure some ancillaries, etc...

You want beans?
Here is the engine nestled in our mockup rig.

Lots of billet goodies in the making...
Im loving the amount of space that will be gained up front to make room for either a monster FMIC or else a front mount radiator.

The more you learn about this engine - the more there is to love about it.
There'll be no plastic cam cover either, lets just say it's my goal to have a bit of a head scratcher. Something visually reminiscent of the IMSA / Trans Am engine but with modern guts.

Hmm, very interesting. I'm looking forward to the development of this project.
Is there any significant weight difference between this motor and a 3B/AAN?

I think Hank weighed this against the 'normal' 20v but I forget the difference - although I remember it being lighter.
The benefit is how much further back the weight sits.
The cam drive is on the rear and the ancillaries sit further back as well.

Mark, about 25lbs overall is my guess based on a few calculations on the longblock. Used Scott's site to figure out what the 2.5L has for weights in the same catigory. Like Sean said, There are 15-20 lbs that are removed from the front and scooted back 20 inches. There accessories are also offset back like your ttrs(same bracket, alternators, waterpump, ect) so you are really putting the accessries 3-4 inches further back as well.
mark, blowing your engine was destiny
