Damn man! Pull yourself up by the bootstraps in a week and I bet you'll feel well enough to continue. You got this. Feel better

Thanks man, I keep looking at the amount of work needing to be done, and losing a weekend to do it isn't a good thing. Not to mention having to use a week of vacation because of haveing surgery.

That's some serious dedication! I wouldn't expect anyone to get back to working on cars within a week of surgery. Any chance you can bribe some friends with food and beer to get some work done for you in the meantime? That's what I did a few weeks ago when I went under the knife.

edit: spelling

The problem is it's mostly wiring left, and I couldnt put anyone else through that. I have a ton of time already just getting it routed, terminated and wrapped. After that's finished it need the dash put back in... Not fun things at all.

A B3 dash, hmm yeah I've done that job, twice.
Provided I can get out from under headlights on the CQ, brakes on the A3 and make headway on the POS B5 CEL this weekend. I'll have Saturday before Mother's Day free to lend a hand.

Closer and closer. Spark wires done, aux relay panel done, euro headlights wired and relayed, O2 wiring run and removed some more unused factory wiring. I still need to hook up the connector for the wiring running back into the cabin, but that's only 4 wires. The problem is I'm pretty much out of time, and the interior still need put back together. Looks like another year that the bandit will be back on the road right before the Carlisle.

Had some time to kill tonight, and I needed them, so I made up a pair of front gland nuts for my bilsteins. Came out pretty well I think.

Try as I may this weekend, I still can't get the Bandit to start.

First I had no crank trigger, turned out to be the wires had melted together. I guess I got a little overzealous with the heat gun. Got that fixed, now have great crank trigger. Then I couldn't get the cam and crank to sinc. I thought I had it, but was wrong, and pretty much nothing but a couple pops from the tail pipe. When George got home, he changed a few settings, and was able to get a good sinc. We finally to the timing straighted out at 10pm tonight, and the battery was pretty much dead, so we called it a night. I'll be back over tomorrow morning to try again. If I can't get it running tomorrow, I'll have to take my truck to Carlisle

The same way you are bringing it down.

If it's getting (and maintaining) sync but there are no signs of life from the engine, try changing the phase setting for the cam sensor. If it's set to "poll level", switch the "second trigger active on" setting. If it's set to "rising edge" or "falling edge", try the opposite setting.
If it seems like it's sort of trying to start, sputtering, and especially if it's kicking back ever, double-check which coil outputs are connected to which coils! Output A is for cylinder 1, B = 2, C = 4, D = 5, and E = 3.

Thanks Eric! With a clear head this morning I was able to get and keep sinc. with pole level, and it fired! Ran pretty darn smooth too! Now I'm putting everything back together, then adjust the timing properly! Let the mad dash begin!

Does the mad dash ever end?

Oh and re the timing, remember it's not controlled by the distributor position any more!
You need to use the "tooth #1 angle" setting in the ignition options dialog on the Megasquirt. I'm not sure if this is true with MS3 but with MS2 it would do weird things if you tried to change that setting with the engine running. So the best approach is to estimate the timing error, stop the engine, change the setting, and restart it. For example if the timing looks 5 degrees too far advanced, add 5 to the tooth 1 angle and recheck the timing.

Cool!
It would not be Carlisle if you where not finishing up at the last minute.
See you Saturday!

By the way, do *not* expect it to run perfectly from the get-go! Changing from batch-fire to sequential always requires some retuning of the fuel map.
I think when I did it about 50% of the map required little or no change, 40% required minor work, and 10% required significant changes.
