LOL - don't forget we were talking about OE RS2 turbo in that convo, not IMS billet. So I'm still right until you make 400wtq with OE RS2 ;)

Here is the end result:

Image

I believe we were a hair over 405 wtq and 350 whp. The graph obviously shows the hotside limitation. Will be interesting to see if there is a viable option to move past that bottleneck.

In the end - mission accomplished. This is the power I was shooting for and to get this out of an RS2 turbo (albeit billet) that bolts right up to your run of the mill exhaust manifold and downpipe using stock water/oil lines...I don't think you can argue a better power/simplicity ratio.

Driving impressions: The thing is just immediately available. There is no lag. As you can see looking at my graph, when I'm cruising on the highway doing 70 I'm right at 3000rpm. When it's time to go, there is no thinking involved. Really quite incredible. And it goes. And goes. And goes. I have to say - I've driven some fast cars. I've ran through 2 ft whoops in the desert at 100 mph. This is just about as scary when the roads are wet. I really have to pay attention when I decide to play around now. A good problem to have - butofcourse.

I've already had the pleasure of tinkering with a TTRS and Model S on the drive home this week. It makes for so much more fun of a ninja attack when there is what feels like no lag. Realistically, this isn't a track car. It's a get me to work everyday car and have fun doing it. I've debated buying something new for the reliability factor but end decision is this thing is way to much fun to NOT drive it everyday. Less cars --> less problems. It's been pampered the last 6 months so it should be ready to behave for a while.

Really only have a couple of very small items left to do:

1. Finish the exhaust cutout. That will happen today.
2. Finish building a bumper. Maybe this weekend.
3. Overhaul the audio system. Blown speakers and flaky head unit.

I think this turbo will stay for a while. At least another year. I may look into a bigger snail next summer but for the longer short term...it's just time to drive it and enjoy it. :drive:

Also, I would be remiss to not mention the awesomeness of Marc. Got me sorted on all the parts I needed, and just had an awesome time goofing around all day Saturday getting 3 cars tuned. As shot as I was (even had to bail for an hour or so to sleep in my car in the middle of Marc's driveway  ) hanging out with JC, Dan, and Marc (Will not so much - he can be a real prick) just made the physical dementia that much more enjoyable.

Marc knows his stuff and is just always willing to help. It's why I drove 4 hours instead of going somewhere closer and why I'll do it again!

How can you not like a guy drinking a 9er beer while tuning a car?

It was a good day. Hopefully someone remembered that we left the pizza outside on a spare wheel (those of you that know Marc would ask, which spare wheel?) ;) ... though I doubt no rodent would come close enough with all the smoke and noise coming from the shop.

The real question is how many bottles of brown or cases of beer does Marc have to drop on his neighbor's doorstep each year to keep up the tolerance.

Yah bra. Dan you should realize by now I got all that OCD shit covered. I made sure the leftovers were all wrapped up and stuffed into Marco's garage fridge up in the loft before we split. Done & done. Marc prolly had that shit for lunch all week already.

Shoulda seen Seb & Will at the Wallymart parking lot at 11:58PM. Like 2 zombies with no idea which way to go. Luckily they were able to follow me down as far as Amesbury/Newburyport and get off at the right exit to find a hotel. Or so they say. Maybe they just slept in a ditch, I really have no idea. They may have killed a coupla hobos and eaten their brains, I would not be surprised.

If you use the video id number and ONLY the video ID number it will embed, just like I did for you a few posts up.

Hitting the 'tussin a bit too hard? :)

Seb, why didn't you hack the mainframe and re write the java scrip using HTML format in C:\\. THat baud rate would have matched the internal server and give you enough bits to host your vid. HTH

Well, who the hell has the time to hover over a link for instructions? :)

Nice job with the DPA - one of my fav breakfast beers.

I'm not proud, but we have a keg of budweiser. That's a Merica grand slam.

Sent my 4 year old cousin to the cooler to get me a beer. Came back with an Buckler...epic fail.

That's slander, Marc. Don't get yourself into a heap of trouble like Hank. I will email somebody if I have to.
