Also, if I'm remembering correctly the T44 has a .28 or .29 drag coefficient. Could be wrong. My car weighed 3,510 at the local track with half a tank of fuel ~10gal. Full weight.

Good list htere. They have a type 43 as .30 so somewhere in that neighborhood is probably right. What was impressive is the .27 of the mk6 GTI/R. Who woulda thought.

The somewhat accurate half-assed track math states that 100lbs= 1/10th in et and 1mph in trap. The red sled weighs in at 2400lbs and makes north of 900whp. A friend makes 798whp/660wtq (measured on a 97 degree day) in his S/C 2001 Cobra and traps 144 @ 3850lbs.

750whp would put you close, if not there.

As for the coefficient, I believe just the Talladega car was .29 with the aero mods, and the production models were ~.33. I do believe the B3 90 was somewhere in the .29-.30 range.

I think I explained this back on the first page - The t44 200 20v is actually less aerodynamic than it's base model brothers mostly due in part to the chrome and other little do dads. My comment was to get yourself a roll of tape and turn all of that around instantly ;)

If that happens I am gonna have to follow your set up ( if you dont mind). Funny considering your YouTube video is what got me motivated to start working on the FWD 200.

You guys are acting like the GTR is some ungodly fast car. In stock form, especially from a roll, they are fast but not THAT fast. Nick's car will be a GTR destroyer for sure. The 07k 4k and urQ will also be GTR eaters.

You guys definitely make me want to get the 200 done. Especially with the gumball rally passing by work today! It'll get done, just give us (me and the car) some time :) If only it would have been done and I had been driving it when the Marlin's pitcher DESTROYED my M5 in his ~680whp GTR!

996TT with bigger turbos and e85 vs 07k URQ roll at 60mph. Basically GT2 996 spec on e85. This was at 25psi and around 580whp for both cars. I ate him at 60-130, but when the box was having to push through the air at 120mph rolls, it was a little closer.

At this point, its not about the $$$ its about the look on the face of the GTR owner after his $80k car just got beat by a 20+ year old car. I wasnt planning on doing it with the 20v. I wanna rebuild the 1991 audi 200 20v i picked up. I would really like to join that club.

The 07k engine is from a Jetta or Rabbit so they can be had cheap but you want a forged crank which is mainly in the earlier engines and harder to find. Once you get the stock 07K, you need to put some cash into it for >350whp ;)

Where'd the gasket figure come from? There's like ~3 gaskets in the whole motor I'm pretty sure.

Honestly, it looks like I just used the figures that I had saved for the urI5 build sheet. Looking at Autohaus AZ, it's likely an overestimation.

Guys,

Yeah i figured it wasnt a plug and play kind of deal. Im guessing their has to me work made to the harness as well. Im gonna look for one, if i find a good deal i might just jump on it.

Is there a link to where i can get a more detailed list of whats needed to make this swap?

Engine year differences:
BGP/BGQ/BPR/BPS
These are the early motors found in MY 05-07 cars and are 148hp/166ft-lb. They have the early style timing chains which can have problems if you follow the VW prescribed 10k oil changes. If you treat them like a performance engine and change your oil at more frequent intervals you'll be fine. Forged cranks were randomly sprinkled into production with these engines and you can't tell without pulling off the pan. A forged crank has a much wider flash line than a cast crank. It might be possible to confirm cast or forged crank by the part number on the flywheel mating surface but this is only speculated. These engines have a 6 bolt attachment for flywheels.

CBT/CBU
These are the later motors found in MY 08+ and are 168hp/176ft-lb. These have an upgraded timing chain and use an 6-bolt flywheel attachment on the crank. No forged crankshafts are known to exist in these motors, however the forged crankshaft for the TT-RS drops right in. The TT-RS crankshaft can be bought new from VW/Audi for $1100-1300. The TT-RS also has an 8-bolt flywheel attachment.

This is one of my tentative goals with my 90 project, once again, mostly for the look on people's faces. That said, I'm completely gutting the car and going for 4-500 whp when the motor gets built.

My other goal is to do it for less than $5k, so far i'm fairly on track.

I think the big thing to look at is a used GT-R probably goes for what, $60k in good shape? What if you dump $60k into your Audi... I know some of the big horsepower guys have probably spent a bit more than that, but I think a lot of it is rebuilding and going bigger, where if you just aim high initially you could spend quite a bit less. Assuming you do the work yourself...
