Much prefer the look of the VDO.

Any reason you didn't go with Stack? Pretty sure they're legit from the rally cars.

Yeah the auto meter gauges are nice but they stand out . The electric gauge with the stepper motor I run in my truck , for EGT and stuff it’s really nice because there is no delay.
As far as gauge choice no specific reason really . I have seen the stack ones but didn’t know where they were from.
I just was looking for something as original appearance as I could find and the VDO came up. A lot of these cars use VDO factory.
Eventually I’m going to do one of the rally dashes (but not in this car) and for that I’m going to really have to do some serious homework on gauge selection and wiring etc.

I like the VDO gauges for blending in as well - as a matter of fact that looks like the exact same boost gauge that I have!!

Whining is probably fairly accurate, Considering the ratio of work that’s already done to what needs to be done .
I’m working on it little by little just have so many irons in the fire at this point , too many to keep up on.

Speaking of EFI. I just picked up a 200 20v FWD auto for free . That leaves me now two good Running MC engines and hopefully maybe a complete set of good sensors .
I’m really thinking about how cool it would be to do EFI on the MC and put it in my blue URQ . Just trying to decide if it makes sense or not . I always figured keeping it 20v would make sense if going for the most factory like setup. Just hate CIS is all. What did you think about yours ?

The 20v EFI was great, I shoulda stuck with it in hindsight. End up with something like Camerons car under the hood.
I'd do another 20vt EFI car if we could source a 20v tube header.

I’d probably make one but I bet there is a place to get one.

it’s too late to go back he already said it .

I’m thinking a lot about doing something 20v in the future. Since I already have one 20V URQ it would be cool to do one 20v just to do something different .
Picked up a free 200 last week so now I have two good running condition MC engines.
Be cool to do something like a 20v with VEMS and a small EFR.

20v's are coming full circle, and getting cool again!

No... If others start building 20vt's again, that mean it get more expensive for me to replace the ones I damage...

They are pretty easy to come by it seems like . I wonder how many MC’s there were versus AAN/3B.

Hey were you looking for that intake restrictor thing? I still haven’t finished the design but I have a start.

I'm sure there were many more MC engines built than 3b/aan. The problem is finding any around me. I don't see too many pop up here in South Central PA.

I have a 2.5 Eurovan block for you guys when you are ready.

2.5L 20v would be sweet. But if I get to the point where I spend too much money on it I'd be back at the point of doing a bad ass 20v or figuring out an 07K- and those options I probably cant afford being that I'm trying to build more than one car
Ill have to go back way back into your thread and see what you were running before when you had the 20v setup. I remember looking at it so long ago like 2006 or something, how long have you had that 90?

I've thought long and hard about doing a 2.5 20v build. Unfortunately finding those blocks local doesn't normally happen. I know of one that was available, but can't reach the person who had it.

I just nabbed this (below) , auto and FWD but I need the engine , harness , sensors .

I hate CIS compared to EFI but wanted to keep one of my URQ totally stock/original. For value purposes . these sensors are damn hard to find and the harnesses and stuff , wiring issues are hard to track.

But anyway at this point I have ,
1x complete 7A 20V
1x 7A spare Head
1x 7A cam set
1x complete AAN
2x MC engine in good running cond
Also an Audi 80 running driving car with an NG - been trying to sell it for less than 1,000 and no buyers so it might be worth keeping I thought the NG crank could be useful or something .

So I should be able to come up with something decent from this .... what engine would I build given all these ingredients ??
Maybe I should find a eurovan block ?

The one thing I never did acquire is an 07K but those are pretty easy to find .

Interior going together .

Need to figure out some really good leather conditioner for the seats since they are so dry.




Up next wiring turn signals. Had a hell of a time getting these bulbs to contact but finally got it and hopefully with vibration etc. it stays put.

Starting to look like a car again. As for leather conditioner, I was really impressed by Leatherique.

Got a few more items taken care of .
Found out why the windows weren’t working


Got the turn signals working


Front end is almost 100% just need to install the headlight washer nozzles and figure out how to hell to get a final adjustment of the hood


Still practicing welds too on the stainless , never can get it right . I think Jim is right , too much heat

Car is looking great man! Also, Jim is right. You've got a little too much heat in that. I struggled with stainless for a while and once I figured it out it's been easy since. Stainless is as much about the right amount of amps as it is about the right amount of speed. The slower you move the hotter the weld area gets.
