Hahaha it seemed just over-the-top bad! I mean, blowing up the engine, believable, it falling off the tow truck, also believable, catching on fire, totally within the realm of possibility. But all three in a row in one day? :bs: Looks like a blast, glad it was only a joke :)

Well.. I went through the ringer on clutches... so if you need help/feedback let me know.

What clutch BTW?

Oh.. nevermind.. Southbend Stage 4

Here is the deal... without throwing people under the bus (though back when I went through this I really really wanted to), I originally got a Stage IV from SB... installed it.. and it did the EXACT SAME THING yours is doing.... was told to let it bed in.. etc... didn't help. Bit the bullet and sent to them for "testing". They said it tested 100% fine. They gave me option.. they would send it back to me, or send me a new one (Which I had to pay for). I told them the old one didn't work, so why would I pay for a new one.

With the car off the road I had no choice.. I bought a new one. They sent me a new one, installed it, and it gripped like nothing I have ever driven (from day one).

I called them and told them this.. they said (and I am not shitting you on this).. "The clutch we sent you is actually not and strong as the one you sent back to us." WTF?

To this day I think the first clutch was screwed up.. and they just denied it and hid behind the "you installed it, it's your problem". The difference between the bad one and the good one was night and day.

I really really hope you sort it... but god damn I hate SB.

Dan, remember, his clutch was holding fine @ 300+whp on the previous setup. no reason to believe its the "wrong disc".

Ahhh..thought it was new clutch while he was in there thus the 'bed in' talk. Well then...hope it isn't an oil leak.

2 years ago my RS2 spec clutch started slipping at above RS2 power... I drove it "gingerly" everywhere until I had the funds for a SB STG4... Even went Ocean City, MD and back on it.... Over at H2Oi my driving became alot more "spirited"...(I think a few guys here remember)...anyhow, after the trip I could now feel what had now become a warped flywheel. I installed this, at the time, new SB clutch with that flywheel... everything was perfect.

In this latest set of upgrades I decided to swap in much fresher flywheel that I had from Silvia... This is the only change done in that area...

Good news is that today it holds 20psi instead of 15psi... </fingers-crossed>

the worry-some part is that even a new clutch shouldn't slip this way...

Yea, when I finally got the "right" clutch, it went in and gripped like a clamp from day one. I went easy on it for awhile, but it hasn't slipped (and I don't expect it to given it's a Stg 4 SB)

You aren't doing any hard high boost pulls in your video... so perhaps there is oil in there... or perhaps they flywheel isn't the same and there is small stack height difference between the setup with your old FW and the fresher FW.

Thinking about clutches gives me a headache after what I had to deal with :)

You around this weekend? I should stop by, pick up those parts and take a look at your setup.

I think the real problem is with your wiper blades. The driver side blade is coming apart and the clutch decided to slip to prevent catastrophic acceleration in the rain. Its just looking out for you man.

You're just making too much power so it's spinning those tires in the rain :)

So as I contemplate (read:procrastinate) on ripping into my clutch I figure putting it on the lift to inspect how my last 300miles have been...

Have you tested your clutch since i drove it w Seb in the back? I suspect i left 1/2 the friction material on that off ramp...

Just like OB to not give you the high hard one.

Lemme know if you boyz are GTG. I fly home tomorrow, will be someplace NoSho for weekend... Mebbe we can get a 4 or 5 way 20v GTG w Matty and Mage.

you didn't forget the check valve between the pump and the nozzle, right?

BTW, is SouthBend running behind on product around this time in the season? Cuz when I go in for this little "clutch inspection", I'll be looking to solve it once and for all even if that means another kit. Hopefully I do find an install error on my end, but if not, I wanna be able to execute on a solution that very same day if possible...

On that note, If everything is properly installed the only thing left would be a less than adequate Pressure Plate, right? Didn't the Stage 4 kits use a higher clamping Plate?

generally 3 days turnaround, at least it was that way for the order I placed last week.
