I ran mine with just a good cleaning and fresh gear oil until the 1-2 shift collar locked up, then ordered the updated part and new synchros from Scott @ advanced automotion. If it's in good working order i would just change the oil and run it as is.

Yeah, I think I'll take the chance on it and if it's bad I'll pull it back out. It's worth $700 to pull it again if need be

Might be worth to grab the rear brakes and hubs too, you can adapt them to use on your car.
I think I am gonna end up buying an entire b5 s4 parts car to get what I want lol.

DE80q wrote:Nice score! Are you planning to rebuild it? Also, dont forget the outputs from the B5 rear diff so you can use your current CV shafts. I believe they need machined 3mm to be correct.

Turns out the S4 rear diff has 108mm outputs. I need to find a B5 A4 for the 100mm rear diff cups. I pulled them today and they're exactly the same as what's in the 01E now.

Sorry, didn't think about the S4 having larger outputs out back.

I'm thinking about selling this car. Garage project upcoming and I'd like to start a new project.

What would you all say this car should sell for?

You will hate yourself later, if you sell the car.

That might not be true. I've sold project cars that I was really proud of, and didn't regret my decision one bit. To each his own. Sometimes you just fall out of love with a car, and the thrill of the chase of other projects is pretty fun. :)

I love the car but honestly the project was half about whether I could do it at all. Now that it's done, I'm ready for the next one

The new owner is coming this afternoon to pick up the car since he's driving to Michigan with it, I went through and checked oil/coolant/air pressure etc to make sure he was in good shape for the drive.

Since this is the end of the thread, I took a bunch of pics of the final product all washed and as pretty as it can get!

And as I got it:

I washed the cabriolet too - I know these aren't the most exciting audi's out there but this one is really nice - and I found it a new engine yesterday!

He did. He said he didn't expect broken trim and some little stuff. If this car was cosmetically perfect it would be way more money.
