My ZX-6RR is quite gutless to 8000rpm. It's fast if you wind it out, but it draws a lot of attention. Some day I'll be looking to replace it with an Aprilia or Ducati 1L twin. I think one of those would suit my style better.
John,
I agree with you about the Yamaha and their tach issue. I knew they were being a little over the top with their redline claims. I'm with you on the Ducati and I like the Aprilia too. I love the torque of the twin!

For a build like what Chris is doing, wouldn't a solid lifter head be a better choice? I'm not sure what is capable with the 20vt cylinder head but if the hydraulic lifter design is a limiting factor, it seems like going to solids might be better idea... Just my noob opinion, those in the know will correct me I'm sure!

hes going solid
i was saying a 3794 is about as really "useable" big as you can go while still using hydro lifters
On my sport I will also be going for high revving motor. Looking forward to seeing yours unfold.
Funny you should mention that car. He is using a Pro52 and is planning a very similar build to what I'm doing now (dry sump and solid lifters). He also told me he had a mishap during which he hit 4 bar of boost... that gives me (and him) hope that the Pro52 will flow in the 10k+ area. I'm very interested to see how our builds differ in the end because the basic idea is the same, but will be completed with different parts (he's making his own stuff).

That was a cool video and a sweet car too! I'm really surprised that he didn't break into the high 11's in the quarter mile. I bet that car is a blast on the road course. It sounds crazy with the anti-lag setup!

Yeah, but did you see his launch? I'd bet he wasted a solid second there. That is why he trapped 135 but only ran 12's.

I will check out his launch again. It didn't look like he had the anti-lag system on the car yet when he was running the car on the drag strip. I do like his quattro script interior. I bet that is rare in an UrS car!

Not in Europe, for them leather is the rare option.

Sorry my2000apb, I not only misunderstood what you said but I missed the fact that Chris said he was using solid lifters.

So...
Apparently the Holset comp maps are not in lb/min, but rather kg/s * sqrt(K*P) or some crap like that. It turns out the Pro52 only flows about 90 lb/min, so it is out of the game now I think. Wish I would have thought about this before. Oh well :/
See the new map here...
This agrees much more with what is listed on Holset's website which lists 1200 CFM flow capability (about 90 lb/min at STP). So now that GTX thingy is looking kinda good.

Awesome car but he's only revving to 8600.... the loxxridah will be a whole different beast !! :woowoo:

All this talk of RPM's...not to be negative but best of luck getting an 01E to even function at that kind of RPM. I can't keep an 01E together in my S4 @ 400awhp and 7,300 rpm with fresh syncros, collars, gears and all. Yes, I have a hatred for the damn 01E! One will still find it's way into my 200 eventually. Dreading the day, lol.
Awesome stuff in here though. Have you looked at any of the Precision stuff for a turbo?

Yeah... hopefully we can find a solution to that which does not include a custom gearset (no way I am paying for that). Good point though.

The gearset is expensive however so are stock parts. Ask me how I know, lol. I spent $850 on a used good input shaft, 1-4th gears @ $425 each, 1-2 collar $450, 3-4 collar, $450 plus the standard rebuild kit ~$1100 (iirc). Getting close to $5000. Gearset isn't too much more considering the parts just don't last (in my experience).

Yeah... I guess I'll just granny shift and not launch too much for a while. Then when I feel like I can blow 8k, I'll be a little more careless! :slap:

I'm not sure what your team has collected as far as parts for the 01E 6 speed swap however I just purchased this setup for mine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/140891912132?ss ... 1423.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
PM me for what I offered the guy. Not a bad deal to have a plug and play shifter box/linkage
Unless you guys already have that step taken care of.
