So I've been doing a combination of working on the 200 and driving it. The new motor is running pretty strong, I'm about at the 500mi mark and everything seems good. I'm in the process of getting my ECU modifications finished up to run coil on plug, which will mark a major step in the progress of this project. I'm going to be using the factory flywheel sensors and the factory shielded wire which is super beefy and well done. I am also using the factory knock sensor wiring so that I can set up knock phones per Marc's writeup on his website. This should make tuning much easier and better and hopefully drive-ability will massively improve.

Also finished fixing/modifying the exhaust. I moved the 3" glass pack back a bit and added a second $30 Summit muffler. It's still louder than I would like but I think it actually sounds WAY better than before.

Some modification necessary

Dual 2.5" outlets painted flat black

Ben aka AnotherBrick laying some sweet ass beads. Seriously, he picked it up quick even considering it's just flux core MIG

I've been on a spending spree  I need to save for spring time plans but I bought an MC2 camshaft from 'Taco, a ton of random stuff like window regs and tie rod adjusters from Phil, and a heater core from Kuma. I also bought this clutch disc from RX7Tuner on MG, it's definitely used and has limited life left but I'll save it for when my OEM clutch starts slipping and it will definitely buy me some time. For the price I couldn't pass it up :)

And we keep getting snow, it's almost like a real winter in Maryland

Thanks for reading along!

Keep up the good work Shawn. Coming along nicely. Maybe I should have you bring up that welder one of these days.

hoooo-wee, unsprung 6-puck... that'll be fun!

My OEM replacement LUK clutch ($260 shipped on ebay) is supposed to arrive today but USPS came and went... Hopefully tomorrow, maybe It can get done over the weekend if there is lift time available.

Nice! For a clutch job on a factory car like yours, you just drop the trans right? I've always just had the engine out anyway haha

I'm on an OEM, 99% brand new Sach kit now, in the old setup a similar one never slipped on me, even through tons of launches so you should be happy with the OEM holding power. You'll be making more power but launch control is a pretty good test of holding power lol

I'm interested to see how that unsprung clutch works and feels for you. I was considering it but I'd like to retain a bit of driveability on the street.

Also, has the camshaft arrived yet?

Yes! Got too sidetracked working on the other update but it arrived today, and it looks great, no real wear or anything!

BORING?!!?! That, my friend, is Megasquirt 1 reading the factory tri-tach setup. Maybe boring for you lazy VEMS users but definitely pretty exciting for me! :D

Sweet! Are you using that jbperf translator circuit?

GTJeff wrote:Sweet! Are you using that jbperf translator circuit?

Yep and using Elaw (Eric Law)'s modifications to the circuit which is just two extra resistors and caps and a couple modified values. There's a good chance I'm going to need to mess with them a little bit more to get it fine tuned but I'm hoping some of the weirdness I'm seeing is my cam sync being nowhere where it needs to be (I just threw it in there).

It makes sense to those who have or are running megasquirt. ;)

Not a lot of this:

I have a PM out to Elaw about this board, I don't know why it isn't working but I'm extremely close to welding the 60-2 wheel I have onto the crank damper.

So... IT LIVES!

Biggest hurdle proved to be wheel decoder settings. I am confident I can/will make this work with an MS1 processor in the 5k but I think for this car I am just going to spring for the MS2 upgrade ($130) cause it's almost my birthday anyway. If anyone has messed with the wheel decoder in MS1 you know it's difficult and there aren't answers out there. MS2 basically does everything the same except that it counts teeth and calculates crank angles all that itself so all you need to tell it is the position of the missing tooth. Stole Dave's processor (Thanks Dave!) and she fired up pretty much the first crank so... sweet. Finally.

Specs are now:
MS2/Extra Processor/daughterboard (technically DE80Q's :hide: ...I'm buying one really soon...)
MS2.2 Main board
JB Perf Divider Board w/ ELaw modifiers THANK YOU ERIC!!!
-Factory 135/1 VR Sensors divided to a 45-1 signal w/ distributor cam sync
1.8T 4 wire individual coils with appropriate driver circuits
Siemens Deka 830cc injectors
Walbro E85 400lph in tank fuel pump w/ Mushasho's OEM basket mods and Gates Submersible high pressure fuel line
"small" Holset H1C in #6 K26 hotside
3" Ebay intercooler and piping
3" Vband on downpipe to full 3" back
Apexi boost control solenoid controlled by Megasquirt
1.8bar spring

Watch this space for videos soon :D

Im just excited to see this run again! Dont worry about the CPU, I cant use it until my harness is set up anyway...

Did you get the sync error figured out?

Lots more problems, moved a bunch of grounds and went from barely running/tons of sync losses to this:

Any idea what is going on to make it misfire?

Ok... Just to clarify, it's pretty obviously not road ready.

This is, for all intents and purposes for you VEMS users, completely untuned, below a basemap. Hard to get a basemap when you're the only one with a particular setup that has no real support. Too bad the 'only 20v guy' isn't caught up...

I don't have a trigger angle dialed in, forgot the timing light at home tonight

Still having minor sync errors, probably ground related.

You guys should set up a divider board. Let me know how it goes ;)
