yes. i can pick it up so the wheels get small air but they drop fast enough.

and yes, motor and trans in car.

it makes it easier when you actually have something to get a good grip on it. the front upper cross tube is perfect.

oh the bunny is easier :D when in the staging lanes, if i am trapped and want to get out, i pick up the back and push it over, and roll out that way :D or trying to line it up in garage/storage.... piece of cake.

:-) has your son discovered the new "monkey bars" you built for him :?

so i have been whittling away at the cage, among other stuff. pulled windshield, prepped for lexan. pulled side glass, undecided yet.

welding to body/floor pan sucks..... so thin.

got hoop and rear bars in and done. started to floor up the rear opening as well.

still gotta decide the front floor plate arrangement. but it is not fun looking. also gotta put one more doubler plate on the rear strut tower, so i can bar across it as well.

lots to do, but it started raining.

oh yeah. i have a little SP-125 wire welder here from work, its actually my boss's welding machine. the liner must need replacing or the wheels, or something. it just does not work that great anymore; sticks and sputters, wire gets hung up all the time. so i went out and bought a NEW Lincoln 140A wire machine to build this cage with. and it is a really nice machine. what a difference it makes....

got home with new welder, opened it up and started to put it together until i noticed that it had been used already!!!! straight back to Home Depot. "may i please speak with the manager?" thank you.

showed how it is used and parts missing, and told him if i wanted a used machine i would have hit a pawn shop, craigslist, ebay. it looks as if someone needed to make a small weld repair, bought it and used it, then returned it as new. gotta love crooked people NOT! he got me a brand new machine right then and there, we opened it to make SURE it was new, and also gave me 10% off. :woowoo:

things like this need to go straight to the top.

here is a pretty strut, all finalized. and i did some finish work on the rear wheel wells, too. that rubber crap makes a mess when it catches fire.

Image

and the rear subframe, complete with my custom tie rods.

Image

and the rear floor is now done too. and the rear bars also. and even the rear strut tower cross-bar. and yes, the driver side rear bar is kicked in a bit on purpose. i wanted it to be right over the factory framerail as much as possible. and boxing in the area to meet NHRA guidelines sucks.... but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. the passenger side was easier to keep that way. and it bugs me too, as i am a symmetrical guy as much as i can be. but sometimes a different part of my brain wins over....

i got some great ideas from you and your build!!! and i even put the front tie rods in dub-shear like supposed to :D haha

Glad to see someone finishing a project! Bumper is pretty easy if you can weld aluminum. It can be done with rivets, but takes a bit more shaping. Mine is just .040 and .060 sheet metal. Made a template out of the factory front bumper for shape, then just hung the rest vertically so there is room for ducts and stuff. There are easier ways to do it than I did in my build, it just took making one to figure it out......
