Soak it with some PB blaster for a few days. I got one out of my 7a head with a little over 140k/mi after a little pb soaking with a simple easy-out. I was impressed at how loose it actually was.

I would say some kroil and a left handed drill bit would do it, be sure to center punch before drilling, you got plenty of room at least it isn't no 5.

Mine was #5. I had to pull the whole EM and downpipe to get access. It was a major PITA. When I had the head off for the 7aT install, I put in all new EM studs and nuts. It's cheap insurance.

I'm tempted to get some SS studs but the reality is that this 7aT is not going to get a ton of miles (15mi/day commute, a trip to PPIHC, BBQIII, some Mt drives lol) and I have a set of clean looking studs from my space engine.

Yep, 87 20vt 5000 w288k! AC works! It actually hauls ass for what it is.

Is it chipped? Chipped MC1s are far from slow. not fast, but most certainly not slow. With a couple mods they beat STI's. :-)

I get 1.4bar  It was owned by a tech at Prestige Audi and feels strong plus it feels like it has a stiffer clutch and the shifter is pretty tight.

Even though I almost had a 5k as my first car I'm really clueless about 20vt mods.

I think the key part of what I said is "for what it is" ;)

5000 with updated door handles? Nice, I like 5000s so much more than 200s.
1.4 on the stock digital gauge is stock, it's absolute though so that's all of 7psi

Ok, I double checked and it is actually an 89 200 lol I was not paying much attention the other day. I swear the hatch has the remains of a 5k badge.

So, I'm impatient :D After 2 weeks of scheduling conflicts I said f it. I attempted extraction but the drill walked out of the center punch so after a short struggle I decided to go with an insert. I should have skipped the extraction attempt lol!!

Now, after a 2 week delay, I can resume "final" assembly and get back on the road!!

Looks like a good job!

Can't always wait for the 'ideal' solution... sometimes one has to compromise or improvise along the way.

I'd call it an improvement, more thread surface in the soft aluminum, the dissimilar metal joint doesn't ever have to be bothered to unbolt. If only all studs had inserts!

Converting would be a pretty trivial task and cheaper than SS ARPs; still I do not feel it is necessary.

I've been working too much! I'm sure it will run this weekend but probably not until Sunday (I work today and tomorrow) and I still need a mid pipe to really drive it.
