Daaaaaaamn Lox that's some crazy ish right there. Is there any legal trouble headed towards your GF's dad or is everything covered by a castle law? (Does FL even have a castle law?). Stories like that are the reason there WILL be a gun in my night stand, nothing smaller than .40 S&W.

On a side note, it probably was meth. My dad works for the Sheriff's department down there in the agricultural unit, and they see a LOT of meth labs and things of that nature show up.

Thank you for all the support guys! It feels good to share what happened. Its a bit of a learning experience, and a humbling experience if nothing else. I know I have converted people (like my mom) who used to be completely against guns into gun believers lol.

Josh, no legal repercussions will ensue. Florida has great laws about this kind of thing. If someone is in your house that isn't supposed to be, you have the right to shoot... especially if they are threatening the way this guy was. If he's got his back turned and is retreating... that is bit of a different story. From the first few minutes the police were there they knew it was what had to be done. There was no questioning what happened. All you had to do was take one look at the scene.

Stephen, like I said its not necessary, but I am looking forward to seeing what you send! Thanks brother :)

Ed, I need yo numba! Text me.

Thanks for sharing that story. This is a small family here at MG and you feel it when something happens to one of our own. That man asked to be dispatched from this world. His life was forfeit when he picked up a weapon. I have tremendous respect for your gf's dad for taking action to protect his family. My son's best friend was murdered last winter in a home invasion down in New Orleans. They made him get on his knees and shot him in the head. It was a gang initiation killing; completely random. I sent him my shortened 12g pump and some hardware to bar the door 2 days later. He's been well trained how to use it. It's a different world out there. The people in the house that night learned a very difficult lesson; one that will always be with them. I pray you and your family find the comfort you need.
Rich

Yikes... glad it turned out as well as it could have.. Glad you and Jess and her family are ok. That's a sobering story and makes me consider having a firearm within reach.

My wife's got a little Browning CZ 92 from her old man (who in his police uniform looks JUST like Stephen's dad in uniform). I hope we never have to use it. I also have a foot-long Bowie knife under the bed.

There is a big problem with something called ya ba over here. Literal translation is crazy drug(medicine).
It comes in pill form and is smoked. It f*cks people up badly and makes them lose all inhibitions.
Makes 'em easily violent.

My wife had to fire all her staff last year, because they all used that shit and started lying to her and stealing equipment to buy ya ba.

No disrespect, I understand why you wanted to share this, but can we get back to talking about your kick ass 200?
There is a Handguns thread already.

Steering rack went back in today and now I'm working on getting the motor and tranny back in. Speaking of trannies, the "built" 01e is still for sale, but have an offer for 1700. If anyone can beat that your time is running out. Could be gone in the next week

btw I just scraped all the old hg stuff off and sanded a bit with 800. Lets hope it seals with the new mls gasket. If not, no big deal. Its probably going to get driven less than an hour before next may. I would like to have the car ready for Carlisle though, so fingers crossed for that.

lol thanks guys. I have a few questions since I'm putting this back together... I'm going to show a lot of ignorance here, but I took it apart a month ago so its hard to remember and I don't have a Bentley... doh!

First of all, this proves two things... that the engine is indeed going back in and that my mom is a badass. I couldn't have gotten the motor back in today without her.

Image

secondly, i need a new one of these... whatever it is. Does anyone know what it does? Some kind of valve for the coolant system I guess?

Image

do both of these wires go on that one post on the starter?

Image

I need a new coolant sensor connector. One of the wires ripped out and I'd rather just resolder/crimp it all than try to fix this nasty one.

Image

there are a few sensors on the car like this with two wires not in a connector. I assume this means it doesn't matter if the two wires are swapped. There are two more on the tranny like that.

Image

not quite sure what this does, but its been disconnected from the breather system for a long time. I assume thats OK?

That first thing was a heater valve. They're no more that $20 but you need it for the sealed system bit. Replace that section of 90* hose too while you're messing with it.

The broken valve is for the heater core PN# 893 819 809

Austin has more detail on the next page

Thank you gents.

I also need to figure out how the hell to bleed the clutch slave and figure out why my shifter feels funny

I was wrong about this valve. It should be the carbon frequency valve which leads to the carbon canister.

"Flushing the clutch hydraulic system is tough if you try to use the conventional method of using an assistant who pumps the clutch pedal while you open the bleeder. Sometimes this will work, but I recommend using a pressurized bleeder system to speed up the process. You can make one of these by taking an old master cylinder cap and attaching an air hose fitting. The air hose should be connected to a pressure regulator to provide 5-10 psi of air pressure into the top of the brake master cylinder. You can use a portable air tank or a regular air compressor to supply the pressurized air to the regulator. After checking for major air leaks at the cap, you can apply the pressurized air to the brake master cylinder reservoir and then open the clutch slave cylinder bleeder valve at the slave cylinder which is mounted near the top front area on the transmission. I suppose you could also use a hand operated bicycle pump to pressurize the master cylinder while leaving the clutch slave cylinder bleeder valve open."

SJM

Please go into detail on how the "shifter feels funny".

Here is one new, $24 shipped to your door:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-100 ... ccessories

While your pn# is correct the linked one is not. The 20v uses a different part it has a sensor for the CC head and the diameter of the pipe is different. Best to get it from the dealer.

loxxrider wrote:Q.do both of these wires go on that one post on the starter?
A.Yes.

Q.I need a new coolant sensor connector. One of the wires ripped out and I'd rather just resolder/crimp it all than try to fix this nasty one.
A. Not necessarily it could be the one wire that is no longer used with the newer 3 pin sensors but yeah.........

Q.there are a few sensors on the car like this with two wires not in a connector. I assume this means it doesn't matter if the two wires are swapped. There are two more on the tranny like that.
A. The one's you're holding are for the after run sensor. The one's on the tranny are for the reverse light switch.

This one should work. The cross reference checks out.

Well for one it does not have the sensor, 2 it's shorter and would require the smaller diameter hoses from a 20v to work properly. Pics for reference.

Thanks a lot yoda, much appreciated. I'll order from the dealer so long as they aren't NLA. Thanks for the other stuff too.

Its going relatively smoothly at the moment which is good. Just got the shift linkages all figured out so it shifts smoothly now (without clutch). Also found the slave cylinder so now I just need an oil can to bleed it. When I go back out next I am going to connect driveshaft and axles. After that I'm kinda waiting on motor mounts. I would plumb the rad and such, but that would make access to the motor mounts difficult. They will be on their way to me along with the new IM on Monday so that's good.

I do have a few more questions though... I thought the power steering and brake/clutch systems were separate. How come my ps reservoir is connected at the top to my master cylinder? So confuse!

Dude, your mom is badass! That's sweet she got out there and helped you out! Great stuff! Good work man! Isn't there a bleeder valve at the end of the clutch slave to take care of that problem?

Ya, thats where I'm going to bleed from. I just don't get why the brake fluid and ps reservoir are connected...

I need to get some brake fluid and some pentosin too.

I also decided to take the bilsteins out because I just bought a set of Bilstein sports for my dad's E36 that are blown (bought them cheap). Will send them all in for repairs this week. I also cant drive the thing the way the shocks are. Its terrible. The one I took out tonight spewed out so much oil its not even funny.
