Do you use the original petrol pump? Or a diesel-pump?

I was going to ask for pictures of how and what you did for this. I've planned on using the intank and stepping down pressure, the H option sure would be cheaper than a pressure regulator. So, Martin, got any pics/advise/info? :D

I think, the H-option is one of the best solutions if you use an b4quattro tank.

I think, a pressure regulator wouldn't be a good idea, because you shouldn't have excess pressure on your diesel pump.
If you have excess pressure on your diesel pump, the injection timing wouldn't be correct (because the injection-timing of the diesel-pump is pressure-controlled)

Shouldn't need to worry about that, the timing is controlled by internal pump pressure- that is fuel pressure after the high-pressure internal vane pump. Pressure on the front side of the high pressure pump will not hurt anything other than increasing the chance of leaks. Only in situations where fuel delivery has been highly modified will internal pump pressure begin to decline, and in that instance, a lot of pressure and volume on the front side of the pump will help bring timing and therefore internal pressure back up.

Yep, running the stock gasoline pump, but removed the stock gasoline filter (PITA)
This is not mine but you get the idea, connection between supply and return, just before the diesel filter.
Drops the pressure and allows excess to return to the tank.

User "Toby" asked me something about the gear-linkage:

this is the gearbox i bought:

http://cgi.ebay.de/VW-Audi-a4-a6-Quattr ... 3923243234

I paid 150 Euro for the gearbox, rear diff and gear-linkage (it was a good price).

i don't know if it was a6 or a4 quattro.
the owner said, that it was from a4 quattro.

Ok, i mounted this system in my audi 80 B4 Quattro, like you can see it in that picture (I only built own gearbox-holders or you can use RS2 things... / And I also used shorted front-flanges from my old CBR-gearbox (some 016 and 01A-gearbox-flanges also fits):

And this things you have to do if you use A4/A6 switching-gate (klick for zoom):

If you want to buy a A4/A6 switching-gate, please look for that, there are 2 different systems (klick for zoom):

Attention: Only 6-gear switching-gates fits (from 01E gearbox, like DQT, CYT, Audi RS2-Gearbox etc)!

hello :) nice project done ;) my project only starts :) My audi b4 q stay in garage 1.5 year and now wen I have what i need to work start ;) i have 2.5 TDI AAT from 1996 audi A6. 6 gang gearbox CYT. In future plans i want put 1,9 tdi engine managment system and 3.0 bmw turbo with VNT.

One question can i use audi A6 1996 2.5 TDI AEL 6-gear-switching-gate to my B4 2.8?

only when you use the 01E-gearbox, and see my last message, there are two different shift-linkages...

If you have 01A-gearbox, it wouldn't fit with the original 6-gear-shift-linkage...

The B4 2.8 has 01A-Gearbox
RS2/TDI-6-gear-gearbox are 01E-Gearbox

lagas wrote: In future plans i want put 1,9 tdi engine managment system and 3.0 bmw turbo with VNT.

if you use 1,9 tdi, you needn't weld engine-holders on your car.
You need only the 4-cylinder-quattro-subframe. So its much easier to put an 4-cylinder tdi in audi b2/b3/b4...

thats my cousin's Audi 80 B3 Quattro 1,9TDI:

i correct little bit i put 1,9 ECU to 2.5 TDI engine to control VNT turbo it is for future plans only ;)

I have CYT 6 gang gearbox taken from 1996 2.5 A6/c4 (if i not mistake CYT is 01E-gearbox) and this car (a6) have linkage i want buy it. If I correctly understand this linkage I can use to replace my old linkage from B4 01A-gerbox

ohh... now I see what i need gear linkage from never audi a6 or a4 ( 05.99 4B-X-130 001 > )

But you can also use the 5-gear-gearbox from Audi A4 1,9 TDI Quattro (or VW passat TDI....1996-2000), the code is DGW, it's a 01A-Type (the box is the same like the gasoline-gearbox) and fits plug&play in the Audi ! So you don't need special gearbox-holders, linkage etc.... It fits plug&play !!!! That would be the easiest thing! (but I think the drive flange are different, like the DQT/CYT, so you have to change that, but that would be no problem). And you also have to check that it fits with your rear-diff.

Here you can find gear-ratio-dates:
http://www.dieselschrauber.de/GKB.html

here a picture of the DGW-gearbox:

Not much of an update, however, happy to say the RS2 lights are here.
Couple of the tabs broke during shipping, but nothing some epoxy could not fix... here they are in all their glory.

I also got some bilstein shocks to install, front will be complemented with UrS HDs using Mance BBKs and Coupe Q springs.
Rear just a set of A4 Sport shocks. Will see if the weather holds up and I can do that before Christmas.

I am actually looking for S2 Avant already to do the same thing :D
My original idea was to find a nice A6 2.5 quattro avant to import, but I find those cars a bit too big for my liking.
S2 would be perfect.

I guess turning an RS2 into a diesel would be sacrilege. :slap:

The B4 quattro avant with 2.3E motor is a rare beast in Europe, most are either 4 or 6 cylinders.

swietny project Marcin!

LHD S2 Avant still keep their prices unless they're already in the shape not worthy to ship it overseas, let alone RS2.
2.3E is the way to go for you if TDI 5L is your desire. There are some nice 1.9TDI builds out there, did you consieder 4cyl?
I am still C4 chassis lover but everything Audi Avant always gets my attention, especially S2.
