You should get the toggle switches with the red safety covers, so someone doesn't knock out your coil accidentally while you're doin' 120. And I think they look like "serious" business. :-D Just my 2cents though...and keep us updated on the Vems... :-)

So today went really bad with the car lol

We got the switches all in and everything, but then the launch control wasn't working. We also had to invert the channel for the shift cut, but there wasn't an option to do so in the settings. That isn't something I am seeking help with here.

The launch control was a different story though. My roommate decided to test it with a 12v source...not thinking at all...(the input for this channel is based off of ground) so when he did that, it basically pissed off the ECU. I think the original reason it wasn't working was because we had it grounded to the e-brake switch. That switch is also connected to the bulb in the dash though, so it could have been seeing some 12v power :( I heard the fuel pump priming when it wasn't supposed to. The car would then NOT start. Not even close. We could smell the fuel though. So apparently it flooded the shit out of it. Just to make sure the injectors were squirting we took the fuel rail off and sprayed in injector (while all others were disconnected of course)....

To my surprise, the car started lol...ummmmmm the motor had no way of getting fuel to it. It was the fuel sitting in the combustion chambers from when it flooded it earlier apparently.

So that issue was taken care of. At least I had a running car. The problem is that the ecu now wont allow launch control to work on the channel its set up for. It will work on the channel for shift cut though. Guess we broke something. I'm just waiting to hear from Kevin what the deal is. Its supposed to mess up all those channels when something like this happens (requiring some very micro soldering), but it seems to only have affected one in this case. It would be nice to just be able to open it up and solder it into a new channel on the board.

EFFFING GAY! :frustrated:

p.s. if anyone knows what i can use for a crush washer for the fuel rail banjo I'd love to know. Its not really cool having a fuel leak...

I got a pack of 100 washers 12x15.5 from http://specialtauto.com/mercedes-parts/index.html They're handy to have also used for the fuel pump and one side of the fuel filter.

Thanks, that helps a lot...it would be a 12x15.5 copper sealing washer right?

Those dimensions were great to have.

I ended up getting a copper crush washer with those specs from the local VW dealer. Apparently it was for an '89 GTI or something lol

Car runs fine, but the damn channel for the launch control is basically stuck on unless I disable it. Trying to find a way to fix it currently...and that damn MAT sensor BS. STILL waiting on fixing that.

None of this really helps with my already high level of stress due to my thermodynamics and fortran tests both of which are on Tuesday :frustrated: lol

This was an interesting afternoon...

I went to look at an apartment to rent for next year, and they are already cheaper than where I am living and on top of that...they are giving us $1000 visa gift cards. You can't get cash for them, so basically that means I have to blow it on something lol

I am so not opposed to that.

Of course you all know that is all going into my beast.

Project Holset COMMENCE!

Holset...$100-200

Lines $300 for a BAD deal

Injectors 1000cc's for headroom later on (i can get a really good deal, but I'll say $300 **edit** these injectors are kickass so they are more expensive than I thought...but like $400)

Tune...free (already have that in line)

ebay t3 log mani ($200)

modify my already custom dp with the correct flange (basically free)

BAM 1k :)

and ill have to keep the boost on the dl until the summer when i can put a clutch in

For sure :)

I am going with the hx35 for now I think. People have made 550+ on them, so it will do just fine for my (intermediate) goal of 400 to all 4.

Haha you are welcome to come down anytime. All I can offer is a couch though :)

On another note...I forget how the stock n75 is plumbed...anyone care to chime in? (not sure if this is the same as on the newer 4-cyls, etc.)

Long nipple goes into the turbo inlet/maf hose, bottom nipple goes to the hose on the cold side housing of the turbo, and then nipple that points toward the front of the car goes to the hose that attaches to the WG.

ah sweeet that would explain why im not making much boost :)

I have an H1C...

...In my 12v :D

Posted: Mon Mar 30, 2009 8:03 pm
by loxxrider
haha you should upgrade the 12v and put the h1c to use on your 4k

btw i just took the car out after switching the lines and oh how nice it is to have that extra 20 or 30 hp that i was missing because of that mixup :D

I cant wait to see how the h1c is going to look in my bay :bashtard:

Its too bad the darn thing makes the same power as an Hx35, yet spools like 700rpm later lol...oh well, its only temporary.

So so far this is what I have ready to be shipped to me...

-Turbo
-All oil lines, adapters, fittings, etc.
-A replacement MM hose that Im making out of 2.5" aluminum elbow and some silicone couplers
-bosch 870cc injectors (they are really 1000's)
^^^^
This is the most expensive part of this build by far. These are usually $500 for a set of 4. I'm getting a much better deal, but its still going to be in the mid to upper 400's for a set of 5. Apparently these are like the most gangster injectors out right now tho  They can be turned up to about 1400cc's using higher fuel pressures, so they are going to suit the car far into its foreseeable modification future.

Still need to order or do:

-manifold
-buy dp flange (i think its just a vband) and weld onto my current downpipe setup
-have the almighty Tom tune it

Things I am going to need shortly after all of the above is done:

-clutch (have it all in line, just need to get the money and order)

The oil lines (save for some of those damn adapters from 034 which cost a fortune) are going to cost me a grand total of like $50...
