It's messed looking at the det you got vs mine. Yours goes all the way around the piston, mine just melted one spot away. I wonder about those pistons of mine...

Woooohoooooo,!!!! I do love how subtle it was for me tho, it was gradually losing power ect.... Still started up and ran, albeit with a rough idle of course...

EDIGREG wrote:That is some bad detonation. Whatever you do, don't run that same tune on the new motor.

What do the rest of the cylinders look like?

Yeah, definitely needs to be retweaked for this round... I'll get close ups of the others, but they look good and when I diagnosed the issue comp and leakdown were perfect on all but cyl 4

His just looks like it was gradually detonating. Yours looks like it was majorly detonating, thus the reason it attacked the one spot.

If it is only on #4, there may be an issue with that injector. I'd suggest having them cleaned/balanced if you're re-using for the new build

Yikes! I'm glad you're changing over all of the oil cooler stuff too - really make sure those lines are cleaned out well in case you have any yummy detonated reese's pieces floating around there :)

This thing is going to be a rocketship!!

Got mine to both line up pretty easily. Note that the bolts they give you with the mounts are not long enough.

Let's see some pics of the underside of the passenger mount...it looks like the mount is not seated all the way on that side?

Those look so odd in that area. OB let me bring you a cordless drill and some Canadian made hockey pucks with 1/16th thick rubber washers :hide:

I would've loved to but the car was in between lift posts, on the floor, on a lowered car at EFI... So I took a few pics grabbed my parts and left quick... Here are some others unfortunately they might not give you the angle you need...

What is wrong with those pictures? They look like they will bolt up fine?

The Mustang mounts are virtually identical to the audi mounts in terms of height and location of holes. If the mustang mount looks like that, so will the audi mounts.

It's the corner square edges of mount... If I understand it correctly, in order have it fit trimming is needed to fit in the rounder housing to get the holes aligned.

Did you get that test mule c4 in yet? I'd be curious what you find...

Driver's side bolts in, you only have to trim the corners of the bracket since the mounting surface is not flat.

On the passenger side, the mount does not fit into the fork on the frame rail - it is the only thing we can't see in the photos because it's blocked by the arm coming off the block. You can bolt one side in, but then the other side won't pivot in far enough. Either grind the mount or grind the fork. You also have to trim the corner of the rearward bracket on that side as well.

Mounting it up to the side of the motor...

Think IMS header, Downpipe and wastgate combo

well... then you wouldn't have a beautiful, highly efficient equal length manifold and an awesome wastegate to go with it.

With leak free vBand flanges to boot... The stock wastegate probably would've been fine at my 30+psi goal though

Yeah, vbands are nice.

The wastegate would have been OK, but it is exhaust volume, not pressure that makes a difference. Too much volume for the wastegate and you won't be able to keep boost under control. Plus the Tial unit is really really nice.
