ya is big. here is stock 1.8T and my turbo side by side
of course he was younger than now. but still.... and this one has a 5" OD inlet, this was the smaller 63mm unit i have. same hotside and CHRA though for both but thats where the likeness ends.

i had the line lock backwards, not the needle valve. it really is non directional, it slows it down on either direction.

That really is one cool gizmo. I'm guessing its controlled with a button, and so is the line lock. So, you have two buttons you are dealing with on launch? Maybe even three with the launch controll? No wonder you talk about how difficult it is. Under all the stress of the moment I can see it being hard to get everything perfect.

nope. its rather simple. one button.
the clutch flow is thru the line lock normally, so its easy for the burnout. then on the launch, i hold the button, and the line lock locks, and fluid is sent thru the needle valve and slowed down.
i can simplify it further by putting the button on a timer relay.
no button, burnout clutch is normal. stage, hit the button once, and then dump the clutch to launch. no thinking about slipping the clutch, nothing but GO.
as it is now, i will have to hold the button thru the launch.
is ok..... its busy, but with more seat time i may actually get a good routine down.

I think the CM valve will slow/limit the flow every time you press the clutch. This is not needed on higher gear shifts.

a long time ago i actually did try the CM FCV-200. and did not like it. it is, like vagman said, limited on every shift. and you get three choices. and i think it still got a little bit of air inside when changing pills.
but the full adjustibility of it and also the ability to bypass. the features that i was after.

finally figured out why it wasnt shifting into 3rd gear. i have a plate to stop the shifter from going into 5/6 gate. the shifter, after being rode hard for a bit, has bent that over some, and was going UNDER the plate and hitting 5th gear. there is no 5th gears on the shafts. so thats why there was "just nothing there". bent the metal around a bit, and ran a full pass.
going to be making a new plate and stiffen it up some. and now that i know the trans works good, i will be moving along with my own shifter design i would show pictures, but its not done yet so i will refrain. but needless to say, it is almost time to finalize that setup!
Glad to see you solved it. Is it worse to hit 5th, than to free rev because there's no gear there?

Eric, if it had a 5th gear set in there it would be better off than hitting an empty gate and free rev. it revved >9400 on that misshift, according to the logs. the motor is built to handle it, but still it isnt good.
if 5th were there it would still work just bog down. may even strip 5th gears teeth which then would NOT be good.
so, no 5th, and the new blockout plate is almost done now.
if you watch closely in the side view video, watching the shifter. notice at the end of the run the shifter has a hard time coming into neutral. that is because it was UNDER the plate again. gotta look/watch closely. but, its solved now. it cant happen again due to the form of the new plate.
