Ive got a jam packed weekend coming up.

Parts out to black anodizing
Fuel rail
FPR bracket
Alu Subframe bushings
ABA breather plate
Passenger engine mount arm
4k/o1e trans mounts
034 16v dizzy cap
Intercooler(possibly)
And other misc fittins and vr cq parts

Just got these back from powdercoating @ Higbee Fab
16v valve cover
Thermostat outlet
Head coolant inlet and outlet
Water pump housing
Misc spacers
Intake manifold
AEB oil filter housing

And I just got these parts in
Rear brake calipers and rotors
Fuel lines
Upper and lower gasket sets
Got my exhaust mani back from being decked flat
Got my trans cups back from machining
Trans seals
Fuel injection bungs
AEB oil check valve
16v crank bolt
New timing belt etc
Front brake pads
Tierod boot replacement kits
New front tie rod adjuster barrels w hardware and 17mm inners

So the trans is getting resealed, fluids and prepped for action.
The bottom end will meet the head and I’ll start bolting things back together.
Rebuild my rear tie rods
POR my subframes, light bar and front undertray
Passenger fender Oilpan, pump, windage tray.
vent /intake
Crimp battery leads
Build brake and fuel hardlines, remove, full reundercoating, then undercoat right over the lines to just short of the junctions.
Undercoat shell
And if I finish that im sure I can find more to do
Like paint prep

PIC DUMP to come tomorrow

UPDATE!!!!
Ok I was able to spend most of the weekend in the garage, got a lot done but never enough. Motor assembly took up the majority of my time but still managed progress in other areas as well.

I got all my powder coating back from Higbee Fab and damn it looks good!!!!
Pics will popup as the parts get installed

I got started with getting the bottom end all put back together and sealed up. Im using a b5 longitudinal 1.8t oil pan. The AEB pan needs the AEB oil pan and pickup tube to mesh correctly. The AEB oil pumps come with new pickup tubes installed already.

Im also using a ABA windage tray in the sump.
Heres a pic with the ABA oil pan and its ABA windage tray
Image

Now heres a pic with the AEB pump and ABA windage tray. THEY FIT PERFECT!!!!!!!
There is about 3/8” around the entire AEB oil pump and no need to trim the windage tray at all, sweeeeeet.
Image

I got my waterpump housing, thermostat and thermostat outlet installed and ready to go.
Image
Image
Image

I also installed all new freeze plugs in the block. There is a 40mm plug where the secondary breather came out of the block. With my overbuilt breather system there is no need for a second block vent location.
Image

Also installed the k24/3b water cooling feed bung in one of the old freeze plug locations. Should work mint. And I also replaced the others for peace of mind.

And here’s the bottom end as it sits now.

UPDATE!!! I got a bit more time out on the car so more progress to report on!!!

I got my ABA headgasket taken apart and added another shim to it to keep me on the safe side of the standalone learning curve. The head is now installed on the bottom end. ARP studs holding it down.
Image

I also started to utilize my mockup o1e. this is a great piece to have around the shop, its an nearly empty o1e box so moving it around for mockup / fitting etc is sooo much easier and with a big chunk cut out of the bellhousing I can see what is going on inside.

This project is a transverse motor, now mounted longitudinally with an AEB starter and oil sump, a 3A flywheel and clutch all on an o1e with plenty of variables to suit.

My main project is a 24v vr6 trans. to longitudinal swap into my cq, the mockup trans is great for checking starter to ring gear/fw clearances, shifting engagement/disengagement, making sure the slave cyl works well etc, helps to find issues ahead of time before its full of fluids and trying to crank it over

Got the flywheel installed
Image

And checking the AEB starter/ 3A flywheel copatability, and its looks perfect!

Update!! Ok I’ve mostly been on the road for work, but I got a chance to get some things assembled. Parts are back from powder coating and anodizing and they look sweeeeeeeeeet! More on them in a minute

I also got a chance to cleanup / prep / and POR15 a bunch of parts,
-steering arms
-steering rack brackets
-4 control arms
-swaybars and brackets etc

I still need to prep and coat my front end under tray as well as POR the front bracing on the chassis.

A few pics of the freshly coated IM
Image
Image

I got the intake manifold back from coating and set to installing the new injector bungs. The 16v units mate to the IM better than the 20v stuff. There is a flat seat and an o-ring that bottoms out vs just relying on the threads to seal it up. So I dabbed on some thread sealant anyway and they are installed.

I also put the injectors in ( Siemens 630cc / 60lb) as well as the fuel rail and its NPT fittings. note the sweet countersunk fuel rail mounting bolts.
Image
Image

And I’m on to final shifter linkage adjusting. I thought I had timed it all correctly, so when the mockup motor came out, it wouldn’t have to go back in with half shiny parts, NOPE!
I was wrong, I hadn’t finished the shift linkage and I still needed to weld up the hydrohandbrake mounting, so the mockup block went back in with the good trans so I could finish my linkage and hydro handbrake work. So the POR’d subframe is in there with fresh from anodizing, black subframe bushings holding up a nice rusty mockup block haha, and this is apparently the only pic I have of that
Image

And a few more of the subframe bushings a friend of mine whipped up at work.
Image
Image

and i also assembled my fueling tray, i just need to swap out the long loop of hose for a more flexible piece and its ready to go back on the car once undercoating has dried.

so, what is the purpose of the taller bushings for the subframe?

and are you going to run PS/AC? if not, i have the ABF alt setup and Fluidamper i used to run, sitting around collecting dusts.... mounts the alternator way low.

EDIT: never mind. i went back a couple pages and see you have that squared away already. :slap:

Taller subframe will mess with roll center and bump steer big time. I am sure you did it for clearance, but if anything, raising the subframe would be more bettah

sptrings and mounts are all pushed down near the same amount, ya tie rod angle will be a tad off but the modded steering arms are coming soon

look at bufkins photos of his audi sport UR-q,
audi lowerd the subframe w/ taller top bushings as well as on the driveline mounts....
see: http://www.bufkinengineering.com/rear_suspension2.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

its to gain more suspension travel for jumping and tearing ass, obviously...

Yeah Tim, but look at hte pickup points on the lower ball joints. They are much lower than oem pickups, so that is how they get away with lowering the subframe.
