Sorry guys, I've been slacking on the build thread. Life has been crazy. My summer job consumes my life and then it was right into school and our 2nd baby last week. so i'll try to get back with it.
Life Changes & evolution to Clean Suprawell it was right around this time, shortly after i painted my car, that i met a girl who was friends with one of my room mates. We started hanging out, dating, got serious, engaged and then Married. this was all over about a years worth of time in the which i didnt do much to the Supra around that time. She definitely did take some of my focus off the Supra and on to her. But she's an AWESOME girl and sure enough heres a couple pics of her and I.
This was about the time i met her.

We went on a cruise with my sister and bro in law. I like that view.

Honeymoon in Hawaii

Kansas City 4th of July.

we're a couple of dorks
Just before heading out to Kansas I had decided it was time to give my car a better stance. Did a bunch of searching and browsing looking for a set of decent wheels that went well with my fresh paint and look. I have ALWAYS loved the 5 spoke look on supras so that started my search.
I ended up settling on some XXR 502's Chromium Black with staggered fitment.
18X8.5 FR +35 2 inch lip
18X9.5 RR +35 3.5 inch lip
I thought they went very well with the car, had a nice clean look, and i didnt know of any other MKIII's with them at the time. I also threw on some new tires. Nankang NS-II's cause they were decently priced and had an aggressive tread pattern.

After painting the car and throwing on the new wheels i started to notice that the taillights and markers just didnt seem to go super well with the scheme so i looked into smoking the lights. I didnt quite want them as dark as the came out at first (my buddy put too much black in the clear) but they have definitely grown on me.

cool thread dude
i have a soft spot for MA70's and JZA70's
my first car was one of these bad boys. first ever car haha, parents didn't seem to mind so much about it being turbo, rwd or modified.
Turbo A MA70
sure you know the deal, 500 ever made, most bits were bigger..

Factory momo wheel and gearknob

on with the updates

DANG! if that was YOURS specifically WHY DID YOU EVER GET RID OF IT. that was gorgeous.

ya with the swap i did, still had the factory MOMO shift knob. no steering wheel sadly :( haha but i still most the parts from the front clip so if i wanted to go crazy i could RHD swap the supra. if i did want something RHD, i'd probably just buy another shell and use the clip. i'm too far invested/into my current one to go that route now.

Little update on Doug's car, this last weekend we rebuilt the trans, installed an AL flywheel, ACT Clutch and ID1000s. SO today he is off to the dyno, we are hoping for 370 - 400whp on stock twins.

Happy New Year Everybody, My Resolution.... Finish the Supra motorwise to 600-650whp, New paint, interior, some subtle aero work.
Back to timeline though for now.
Very happy with how my exterior was coming together, i felt there were still a couple big things that would make a difference. After having my old dual subs and amp stolen, i figured i should downsize in dimensions but upgrade in quality. I purchased a single 12" Rockford Punch and box, along with a Rockford Prime Amp. I've been extremely satisfied with the difference. The Rockford's sound is so much cleaner and precise, and i now have MUCH more room in the trunk than i did before.
The 3 big exterior issues i still felt needed attending was some more low in the front, tint (to hide my new system), and exhaust. There was a guy right across the street from where my wife and i live that does AMAZING tint work so i got the supra done with LLUMAR and i was very happy with the results.
These were after the JIC Coils install, tint, and brake detail

BEFORE I FORGET. I THINK it was shortly after i got the supra repainted i was at Oreilly's picking something up when i walked outside to see a Red UR Quattro parked right next to the supra. I looked it over for a min when a curly haired guy walks out.... We all know who this was, none other than Hank Iroz. I at the time didnt know much about old school Audis so he filled me in a bit on the SWEETNESS of his URQ. (Hank i believe that was like 2 motors ago, haha) Anyway, that was another experience that kinda spiked my interest in older Audis and the research began.
As i went home to Oregon to visit and pull some stuff off the JDM clip i noticed (surprisingly hadn't before) that the clip had JIC Suspension Project Coilovers. Couldnt have had a better thing fall into my lap at the time. I pulled those and threw them on my car.

I of coursed detailed the brakes again and did them red this time. The gold just didnt seem to go well with my new color of paint.

After taking care of these things clearly i almost had the exterior together except for my NASTY ricer fart can. I had been searching around for exhaust that was 3" cat-back, quieter low hum at cruizing speeds, but unleashes the beast at WOT. I found my exhaust finally. A Tanabe Hyper Medallion 3" cat-back.
Old Exhaust

New Exhaust

It was about this time we had our first child (baby girl), and just months prior to that my father passed away from Lou Gehrig's (ALS) In the last couple years before his death we really started becoming a lot closer. (sad that it happened in the end and not earlier on).

And a couple pics of it on the car.

Next update will be some major engine and other upgrade work.

thanks Ben, You need to get yours back on the road.
other note, just replaced a broken timing belt on our beater camry, new power steering pump. fixed a few other odds and ends and been heavily contemplating what my next project car will be.
The stipulations for my next project car is
MUST
1. Be AWD (i want something that i could daily if i want but more so a fun car for the winter i can mob around in)
2. good BHP, something to build upon. My next project car i plan on the 450-550whp range.
3. 4/5 door. I want to be able to haul the family in it if i need to.
4. Extra interior utility space for luggage, misc, etc... (for trips if we dont wanna take the wifes SUV)
5. Something i could pick up for $4k-$8k i'm fine if it needs a little work.
I'm open to opinions and ideas of what would fill those requirements but i know it narrows it down.
I have talked to a lot of people, done a lot of research, reading, getting opinions from owners, and AS OF RIGHT NOW. i'm leaning towards the "problamatic" B5 S4 Avant 2.7t.
I will be doing all work myself so therefore saving the majority of labor money spent on fixes, plus i will have other vehicles to drive if the car is down for a while.
This may be someone that people know but something like this is what i have in mind but it would have my own personal touches to it.

Would be sick imo. Wife and I saw a nice low allroad last night and she said, "what's that?"
I would buy one that's been debagged and k04(+).

That would be part of the plan. The stock supra turbo had a "turbo" badge on the back and on front upper nose piece. I basically shaved all that so it's left with a very small badge in the front grill that says "2.5 Twin Turbo".
One of the reasons I dig the S4 is the wide body. So I'd debadge it but if somebody knows there audis they'll be able to tell is an S4.
I was also planning on K04 turbos unless I get ambitious and feel like dealing them for a big single that I could actually access without having to drop the engine/sub frame. Saw a "well maintained" one recently with sorta low miles on and immaculate body for I think it was $5,500

Haha I meant de air bagged suspension. Allroad only I believe. Might be a reason to just start with the s4. I do like the 2.7t but would prefer one with the turbos already done

A buddy of mine has two or three 2.7t S4s. At any given time, one of them (any of them) always has the engine out. Maybe he's just doing it wrong, but seeing that and hearing everyone else bitch about them has steered me very clear from them.
On another note, nice update! Looking forward to more.

A well modded avant is one of my favorite cars. Also the RS4 is widebody, not the S4. That white one above is either an rs4 or has rs4 body panels.

Hit it on the head. Ive had two b5 s4's. First with 85k miles, K04s were new at time of purchase. Tapp tuned, Turbos let go at 120k miles. Pulled motor, replaced with k03s and sold it. I bought another s4 with low miles (60k), found some new BW ko4 turbos on vortex, dad and I pulled the motor and swapped turbos. Went with a conservative APR tune. I lost the left turbo about 30k miles later.
Bottom line is turbos are in a horrible place and the stock intercoolers don't get the job done on k04s and higher then stock boost levels. That being said, I've also had a chance to ride in a well sorted tial 770 s4 and would trade my house, all my cars, and maybe my fiancé for that car...joke, but you get it. Sorry for long read, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in!
Beautiful supra btw!

It all depends on the price. i mean if i can get one already done (well that is) then i'll spend the extra for something that is more ready. If i find a real good deal then i'm willing to spend the extra time to do it myself.

Thanks, I plan on taking my time with it if i go for the S4.

Hmm. dang i didnt know that. so what do most guys do that are looking for a widebody Avant here in the states? any good places to look for the fenders/bumpers/etc... or are most WB avants in the states imported RS4's?
