I really need some help locating the correct TB gasket for my MC1 engine. The kit I picked up came with the gasket for the NF/NG. I cant even locat the part # for it on vagcat. Can someone please point me in the correct direction! I was in the middle of an order on AZ when I noticed they list the incorrect gasket as well! Thanks for any help!!!

Well Hank, looks like you were right (as usual)!!!
Well, using the arbor I made up, I have verified that the cam Is the correct diameter, and tooth patern.
Now for the bad
The timing mark on the back of the gear is off buy about 2 1/2 teeth. Not only that, the offset is way off, and the bore is only half the length. With doing a little research, I have come to the conclusion that this is a 20v gear. Another thing that threw me off is the fact that the gear does not have a keyway, instead has a a partial key sticking out of the bore.
Well, I guess I will have a eurospec
20v cam gear/pulley/cog (sorry I think I have called it all of these in my posts

) If anyone wants it make me an offer. I dont see any sense with filing a paypal/ebay claim beacuse I know this is new, and I dont think it will be too hard to resell it

So, I finaly got to work on the car yesterday. I removed the dash, and the heater box. I had lots of fun figureing out how to get it out, but thanks to "chadlundy" on MG, things werent too bad. The hardest part was seperating the heater box from the AC/fan box.
The first thing I too out was the DS knee panel. Here is what I found under there.

I counted about 6 diconected conector pairs. Not to mention the speaker wire that was run up the A-pilar for the ghetto sunroof motor power feed
After I got dash out the way, I started working on the heater box. It went OK... but getting it out without the fan box was a PITA. The 2 clips on the back really held me up. I did eventually get it out, but then, taking off the cables, the one pin broke off. Then being quite pissed off, I stepped out of the car, right onto the DS A-pillar trim. Of course... So now I have a broken trim piece, and a broken heater box. I guess the parts car is going to pary off for me

Here is where I left it. I didnt want to break anything eles while being pissed off at myself.

I am trying to figure out how to get the AC/Fan box out. I want to take out all the AC stuff, as I will not have it in the car any longer. Any help on the would be great. Also, if anyone know what any of the disconected plugs might go to, that would help too. The only thing that I know of that didnt work in the car is the heated doo lock.

The unplugged connectors are pretty common *edit* oh, connector
pairs? hrm... *edit*, and most likely just means that your car did not come equipped with every possible system that Audi designed the harnesses for. The 'speaker wire' is the factory sunroof feed, assuming yours is a 'bundled' pair (bk and bk/wh joined together like you would typically find speaker wire) like my CQ, and doesn't say Monster Cable on it. I thought that was a little odd when I first saw it as well....
As far as the AC/blower box goes, make sure you remove the screws on the blower motor inlet underneath the rain tray cover, but let's see what you have removed and we can go from there.
Now a question...Could you take some shots of the mounting brackets for the parcel tray/driver's knee panel? If your parts car has these, and they're way different than the airbag-equipped cars, I may be interested in them for my coupe.

Oh man!! Seeing the dash out reminds me of when we did the heater core in my B3

. There were some stupid hidden screws but overall it wasnt toooo bad. I had good help as well.
Like seeing progress!

Toph, the wire in question actually said "RCA" on it. So it was indeed speaker wire. I knew somthing wasnt right with the sunroof motor when I pulled it. I was a clear cased wire with a crimped on spade conector covered in electrical tape. It was then conected to a large yellow conector under the knee panel. As for the parts car parcial shelf, theat was sold some time ago.
Mike, getting the dash itself out was...well... interesting. It was the heater box itself that threw me. I hate breaking parts, but at least I have the parts to replace them. Sorry I wont be able to sell you the A-Pillar trim :-(

Oh...rca huh? hahaha nice.
I actually have the parcel shelf itself, but I am curious about the gray coated stamped pieces that it bolts to.

No problem. Mine got broken by somebody taking them off when we were putting the dash back in my car. I was less than thrilled since I didnt break them :\

HUGE UPDATE!
(sorry no pics yet)The engine and trans are finial sitting between the rails!

the fuel rail is mounted very solid, the the intake has had the shit gound out of it to fit in with the spacer. I spent most of the weekend preping the engine and trans, and the yesterday, with a huge help form my dad, it all went to gether.
So I can now finaly see a small glint of the light at the end of the tunnel to getting this running. Now its time to make everything else fit in and work.

I was going to, but I have to reclock the K24 I picked up. I tried to get the hot side to loosen up for about 90 min, then gave up, and set it to the side. I figure it wont be too hard to get it in after I get that done.

Mini, update.
I want to thank those of you who have stuck with me through this long process. There is a reason I have never finalized a project. I cant make up my mind, and stick with a plan!

If you have been here from the beginning, you know how many times the plan for this car has changed already!
In that spirit, the plan has mildly changed again. I was offered a deal I couldnt pass up. Here is a little teaser as to what it is. I will post more pics when I recieve, build and balance said change.

And for those who know me a little better, NO, the wife has not been informed about his yet. You know how it goes, better to beg forgiveness, then ask permission.
