I'll probably run by in Her Urq for some support work. I'd run it on the dyno, but I understand that you have to have a minimum amount of HP just to turn the rollers and I'm not sure I would qualify. :(

Aaron, how well are you tuned do you suppose? Is the tune that is on it now tuned for sea level and not the 2500 feet here in Las Vegas?

Sean, i talked to him (i have his cell) and he said you can jump on after i am done. and its always nice to see your blue car. but he is working on an STI @ 2pm, its a problem car he said so he could be awhile. but he said he will definitely do your car afterwards. he said he called you back a couple times, it rang once, then went to some beeps or something.

John, as far as tune, we got a base tune last time, base hits to 7k rpm and 23psi netted >500AWHP. and it was tuned at 120' above sea level. i think the track is 2100' above, not positive.

right now though i put in the ID1600 injectors, so fueling is off. i have spent the week after work running the car warming up, and logging. then holding rev steps to log fuel. we have no load AFR's up to 4k pretty good. so it will be a little time tuning mild loads, then go. i am hoping to be done in 3 hrs or so, hopefully sooner.

oh. i will be there a little before 5:00 tonight.... i am going to run out soon for some more E-85 and then i need ice and lots of it.

so, who wants to drive on the dyno? :) 121 Industrial Park Rd, right off Lake Mead pkwy. its the first building on the right. around back.

Hank, its an AWD Mustang MD-500 dyno. i hear Insane-something or other has an AWD dyno too, up by the speedway.

HAVE I MENTIONED THAT I AM EXCITED???

yea Aaron, the valley runs from about 2600' in the NW to about 1500' down by the stadium where the wash runs through to Lake Mead. I would guess going back up in elevation to Lake Mead parkway where the dyno is would be about 1800' or so. Whats the worse that can happen, everything a bit richer.

i did it!!!! i drove on the dyno!!!

648 AWHP, 484wtq. 34 psi, 8k rpm, 12.0 flat AFR. 85 degrees out, ~2200+ elevation.

still have not messed with timing at all, 17 degrees, on E-85. oh yeah, did i mention its a Mustang Dyno??? no broken heart here ;) not bad for a 4cyl 2.0L stroker.

pulled the plug early, no need to waste it on the dyno... gonna take it and flog it on the track.

Hi Aaron, nice numbers! Please bear in mind that E85 stoich mixture (lambda=1) is AFR 9.77:1. Max power mixtures should be in the range of AFR 6.9:1 - 8.5:1. (lambda 0.7-0.87). Also, WB sensor reading errors become significant when mixture goes under lambda 0.8 and around 0.6 they are almost out of range. Please be careful man!

Good luck with the 9's!

I am pretty sure he is talking air:fuel in terms of gasoline. I have resorted to this as well for the innovate crap, as they do not deal in lambda at all, nor do they convert for their DB gauges. When he is saying 12:1, this is just .82 lambda, or 8:1 on the e85 scale for air to fuel. The car would not want to rev if he was trying to feed it 12:1 on the e85 scale!! Well, it would, but he wouldn't have made 650whp

.80 ( or about 11.5 AFR on gas scale) is about where I feel I make the most power on e85 as well. Any richer than .75 and I start to pick up misfires and sensor errors, where any more htan .84 lambda I start to get high EGTs and lose power.

Where? The collector? On track I see 1000C at the collector (also E85).

Great numbers by the way! :-)

Impressive for a 2L.

Why do you say you haven't messed with timing? Why not tune the timing too?

didnt do it as it is making good power now and will do it after i run it on the track. its making well enough power to do what i need it to do today. no need to push now.

if it was low 500's, i would.

this was in like 5 or 6 pulls, BTW. total.

baseline was lean 13-14.00 on the WG spring. 470/356 or so, developing 19-20 psi. 3k - 7k

cleaned up fuel, baseline now 470/356 or so, on the WG spring, 19-21 psi, 12.5 AFR. 3k - 7k

add 10% boost duty cycle, 492ish/??? makes 22.5-23 psi now running 55% fuel duty cycle. E-85 and ID 1600's 4BAR base static. 3k - 8k but dyno was still set on 7k so we didnt get top end numbers. 11.9 AFR

set dyno right, 3k - 8k, 520/xxx 23 psi 12.0 AFR flat

add another 10% boost duty cycle (now 20%) 541/397, 26.6 psi, 55% injector duty cycle, 3k - 82-8300 or so, trying for 8k. 12.0 AFR.

add another 10% boost duty cycle (now 30%) 577/430ish, 29 psi, 3k - 8k 12.0 AFR flat

add another 10% boost duty cycle (now 40%) 648/480.5, 34psi, 3k - 8k, 12.0 AFR flat

CALLED IT A DAY (night). we could have easily hit the 700 club. but i run 10.05 @ 139 with 615/434 and 33 psi. i want to run 9 seconds off the trailer first pass out this year.

all with timing at 17 degrees. we made good power have a nice curve and didnt die. it was a good day all around. its running well, sounds and feels good, and is a safe tune that i do not need to push the limits hardcore with.

and please do not hold me to this. this was by memory, not that i have a bad one ;) but this should pretty much sum up the runs last night. Mustang MD-500 AWD dyno.
