Wasn't Chub having more fun when he had a dozen to play with. You might want to order a few more just because Chub seems like a kid that has all the toys and FOUR seems skimpy to me. He can't even hardly stack just FOUR!! What's the fun in that?

Was it a hasstle to get them from overseas? I might like to get a pair for the rear, I've got other plans for the front.

BTW the car looks great.

Just order them and pay the shipping. If you get a few ordered at the same time though, the shipping comes down a bunch, which is what we did thanks to Aaron doing the legwork and fronting the money. Thanks again Aaron. It's not many people these days that are willing to stick their necks out that far. Too bad some people can't seem to see what is good and what is detrimental to this community.

not a hassle getting them, no.

the price on the website for shipping was $60 GBP for two or 14, it didnt matter.

i was ordering mine anyways, and a couple guys wanted to get some at the same time so in the interest of saving some money on shipping, i got all of them and forwarded on to those other guys theirs. and got a lecture for doing so.

using their online shipping calc, for buying two the cost was $132 each after shipping. for buying 14, the cost was $102 per. so saving alot of money if there were more people involved to piggyback on the shipping side of things.

kinda like those little old ladies who pool their money each week to get lottery tickets..... they pool together and get more tickets combined, and when they win they split it equally amongst themselves and go on about their business..... pretty much like that. except i was the little old lady that went to the store and actually purchased the tickets, collecting Martha, Helga, Gertrude, Phyllis, Ethel, Beatrice, Joshephine AND Bernices' share of the pool.

anyone, if you have relatives that are named any of those names, please do not be offended by my example. these names, to me, sound like names given way back then.... my own gramma (Phyllis, RIP) was listed, as i grew up calling her Lady like my grandfather did; and i always thought her name was an old persons name as she was always old to me :slap: .

thats all....

its pretty cool that i got two pix of it, and the larger size as well.

and i got some CompBrake solid topmounts. but i cant talk about them. would not really like the wrong intent to come of it.

and Thanksgiving days progress.... copied from the DIY type post;

here is how i spent my Thanksgiving. peace, quiet, alone. its how i prefer it. i can do little projects, and not be disturbed. wife and Chub go to her fams house for dinner, i stay home. its what works for me. right now finishing up my Kraft Mac-n-Cheese dinner.... hey, its what i like :)

so here i detail how to do some fiberglass work. its really easy (to me) and its fun as well. a good way to waste a couple hours, anyways. i am doing a copy skin of an S2 headlight to fill that spot on the race car. i have sheet metal now, but this will look more professional.

first, mount the headlight so its stabilized. use wood so you can staple the material to it.

Image

cover it with foil, tape, whatever. just dont want resin to stick to and ruin your good headlights.

Image

Image

stretch material (i use old t-shirts) over the plug (headlight) and staple it to the behind structure. get it as you want it to turn out, no wrinkles, etc. tight as you can. then make it in such a way that you can get to all parts you want to resin up, easily.

Image

Image

mix up some resin, and thoroughly saturate where you want your part to be molded from. i went about an inch around the edges, so i can trim to fit. light use of heat gun to help it kick off...

Image

do another layer, this next layer of resin outside gives it a really smooth finish. more heat gun action.

Image

pull part from plug, trim back part, clean up some edges, and prep for internal glass work.

Image

layout your matting and make it easy to handle and work with. lay it in the now mold, and make sure you slit it where it bubbles up, etc. fit it relatively well, you can always trim while wet but it mucks up your scissors LOL. they clean if you get to it while wet still. apply resin to matting pieces, and push into place and remove what bubbles you can. i usually coat one side (the back side) first, then flip it and put it into place. then i come along the top side with more resin and push it in with a paint brush. this gets it a sticky surface to cling to the part for one, and lets you not have to work it so much to get it resin soaked.

Image

test fit, trim as needed. mine still needs final trim work on the race car, the Lago is in the garage and since its the same thing i just used it for placement.

Image

sand up the outer surface, get it as good as you want for your paint surface.

Image

paint and refit. tomorrow i will final trim and then make it attach with the Dzus fasteners i already have in place for the sheet metal cover i am replacing with this much cooler one. thanks for looking. :)

Image

Happy Thanksgiving, folks.

Nice, but you don't get in trouble for not going to the inlaws? I guess if you let them do the old unlimited VS shopping, then you can get away with a bit more.........but Thanksgiving? LOL

took car out of trailer. saw water. wait, it has no water in it. hmmmm. a little look and i discover where it comes from.

i already have a new core from when i lifted the head, and the BOV adapter as well. now to get another petcock so i can have high point bleed vent AND low point drain.

the things we learn the hard way, huh?

nah.... thought about it. but if it blew the bottom out, it could have damaged the insides too. i guess after a weld here n there and a pressure test. but i already have the new one here from when i lifted the head (a time or two LOL). pressure testing then showed it to be fine so i shelved the replacement.

and on to other news; i put one of my FOUR www.CompBrake.co.uk topmounts on today. piece of cake. coming soon; FS 4 very hardly used 034 Density Line top mounts. would say less than 50 miles on them TOTAL.

are those things threaded and just clamp onto the strut tower hole? You'll have to excuse me because I've never looked at how the small chasis cars have the strut mounts configured

these dont. they have the spherical bearing that will accommodate these changes at the bottom end of the strut. they do not make one of these for those offsets.

this one, now it is changeable.

They're very nice pieces for sure.

Did you check the range of motion with the strut on? The top cap for the spring looks like it'll be close to contacting the inside tapered surface of the top mount? I didn't check mine out yet so thought I'd check with you. ;-)

Coupe don't have castor adjustment and the camber adjustment is in the ball joint

I was wondering about that contact too as its something I've had to worry about with my strut mounts for the t44 as well. It all makes sense now though!
