I need to look into that. May save some time. I could also look into making one but it probably is not worth the time.

Yeah, yeah, yeah; you know how I like different
If all goes well I could have boost before 2012! That would, basically, be bolting everything onto the stock 7a and ghetto fab'd 3" downpipe to current exhaust

I also should perform a flywheel trigger pin augmentation, just in case.

Regarding the TPS plug, is it the same size as the MAF plug on a 20020v?

Still need to hunt down, or order, the TPS plug and sort out a few other loose ends but I am prepping to start tearing into the turbo install starting Monday (need to clean the garage, borrow a car, and do Christmas this weekend)!! I'm not sure if I have the willpower to set up the VEMS without bolting on the Holset but it is most likely a good idea to deal with one change at a time.

Finally a bit of progress! I should have all day tomorrow

to work. I need to get the manifolds on and figure out how to connect the dots.

Of course the coolant hose is in the way so that is not the final position. Before anyone says anything, I wiped off the valve cover but it is pretty bad

Wow. At first glance I thought you painted the valve cover black .

You should have seen it before the degreaser and brushing

Ok, once the family was alseep I had a beer and decided to get to work. I toyed with the thought of getting it running on VEMS with the new intake but no risk no reward! So I threw caution to the wind and started pulling the exhaust manifold. The first nut either had a basically broken stud or I didn't know my own strength

Oh well, I only broke one more stud but the rest of the nuts were not too bad (the back lower two are a bitch but I got the whole bottom row with a combo wrench). So, at this point the next step is pulling the downpipe so that I can get everything out of the way. This involves jacking up the car and laying on the ground so I decided to mock up the EM and Holset!!
Looks good from over here

And up here

From the Right Lane

Downpipe Clearance
Artsy

A broader view of the work space showing why it needs to be bigger

So to be clear, the EM and turbo are just resting in place above the stock manifold. This means that the package will be ~3" lower and 5+ mms closer to the head. My AC lines are in the way bigtime (the turbine is sitting on them in the pics) but other than that I think it looks pretty good. The downpipe and charge air pipe with be tight but it is a German car. I am concerned about fitting the 7a coolant pipe (head to radiator) clearing the IM. Hopefully clearancing the runners will make it fit.

Thanks! I've pretty much committed to not driving it without boost in 2012

I see you have depot lights. Did you have any fitment issues with the 7aT intake elbow? Mine is resting on the back of the light with the cover removed. I don't have close to enough room to put the cover on it.

Those are Bosch but will soon be swapped for B4 H1/H4s. I have not set up the intake yet but will most likely use a cobra head 90° setup.

Good idea, any good sources for cobra head elbows?

Nice Ed! Looking good! Hopefully we'll see it (and I guess you, too

) at a dinner soon. And I'm jealous of _your_ garage - gives you an idea how bad mine is!

Racepartsolutions.com should have them, 034 of course.
I'll make a dinner one of these nights! The downer of my new schedule is that I work tues-sat which makes fri&sat nights difficult! Oh well, not exactly permanent.
The garage is a 1 SUV/ 2 Coupe (lol, I told the wife if we had another CQ she could park inside

) so the problem is all the kids stuff and other shed fodder that I would build a shed for if I had flat ground for it! I've seen worse for sure but I'm jealous of my buddy with >1k sqft and an upstairs (in Highlands of all places). I've always wanted a carriage house as a shop

Correct. This is Chris's (loxxrider) old H1C with HX35 turbine housing.
