Hank, ok i will make it tonight. PM me the addy but i need yours back someday, i robbed my spare trans
vagrant, good to see you back.
the next build i do has the rabbit body (widebody) as the base. another drag car. tossin around the motors some, have not decided. but i am pretty set on automatic. so maybe a hopped up 500whp 16vT with a Dodge Omni A404 auto trans, mid engine RWD mounted transvere in the back. already started the parts collection for that.
or maybe a 3.0L 30v V6 and big VGT Holset turbo (Derek wants in) and i gotta figure out a trans. like a Powerglide or something. or even 01E FWD in the back, sorta like the newest 034 car has. but i dont wanna mess with linkages (but will if i have to).
the thoughts are running to consistency and even so my wife can drive it maybe. if i can figure out how to make the seat go that far forward LOL.
but this next car i do not want to go >135 nor faster than 10.flat. so 10.80's and 133-ish is my bracket goal.

Hank, i cut an 01E 5spd one up today, and it was different, and did not end up working out. dunno, maybe the 6 spd'ers are different. but this one definitely was different.
i suppose i can just keep pulling 6 spd ones off the trans and putting the 5 spd ones back in they are the same just built a little bit differently.
dunno.

i put a longer bolt in it, then threaded on 3 nuts. the head of the SHCS goes inside the plug. i will find a solid plug later, like an allen one. this one is a square head one and its hollow inside. i even have to pre-load it to get it to start the plug in.
remember i am just dinkin here with stuff layin around thats easy to play with.
and this one here, its MUCH firmer like i said.....

Curious, instead of just tapping the inside why not just use a bolt that is the same size as the spring. Run a nut up the bolt and then weld another to the outside of the detent. Then it would still be adjustable by using the other nut to lock the bolt to the desired tension position.

cant weld on the detent body. thought of that.
there is a plastic caged needle bearing inside. you cant put it back in of you modify the access way to it. and you will melt it otherwise.

Ahh... figured I would ask. Then again what if you just pulled the caged bearing out and used a bronze bushing instead?
