oh i got it in 3rd, for 10.7 @ 138.
9200 rpm, tap tap tap limiter a couple times and BOOM.
that motor was already down on power, it was fading.
each run before, i got closer and closer to the finish line in 3rd and the last pass before BOOM i barely shifted into 4th before crossing.
so i bumped it up, pushed 3rd to finish and finished it.

meh.....
506/378 for the base pull, 23 psi and 17 degrees to 7k rpm in 3rd gear.
three more pulls, and then we want to turn it up. but there was a noise on shifts, a rattle sort of, so we pulled the plug.
better to quit early and save it instead of total waste like normal.
had alot of ears there this time, at least 4 people heard the noises....
but still, motor runs good other than what sounds like a rod knock or something. and without time to tear it down, oh well. car still goes to show anyhow.
i swear someone out there has a voodoo car doll on me. i just feel it. someone hates me and wishes ill will upon me....
Aaron those are still numbers to be proud of!!! I hope the noise turns out to be somthing simple! Are you still going to run it at the show? Anyways, I gotta go to bed. We are out of here early tomarrow. So I will be seeing you at the show man! Even if you don't get to run, it will still be great to meet some fellow MGers in person!
A rod knock? That loud that you could hear it above the dyno noise? Did it get louder with each pull and was it there on the first? I have to say you have had your trials with this car. Hang in there. It's still pretty impressive that you have it not only put together, but even have had it on the dyno, and all of this in time for the show. Awesome!!!!!
will not go to a VR6. PERIOD. manifolds, all the $$$ in the solid cams and lifters and head, new bottom end, mounts, clutch, injectors, rail, everything is 4cyl only.
turbo, wastegates, fuel pumps, fpr, lines, AWIC. that is it. thats all that i could use. and since that isnt but maybe 20-25% of the overall, its not worth it.
new harness. manifolds. exhaust. motor build. head build. all new tuning yet again. injectors. fuel rail. mounts made again. clutch. relocate radiator. and on and on.....
no way at all i am doing that stuff. as i said from the beginning, i have too much 4cyl oriented stuff to even think about platform change. i already have at my disposal a full 12V OBD2 VR6 motor.... and if i wanted to do something other than 4cyl from the beginning, i would have. 5cyl probably would have been the choice....
sorry, not this kid. if this one is done for already, look for my 9 second Mustang next season
and anyone else out there who wants to make a VR6, feel free..... but not me.
you guys have more chance of seeing me yank this stuff and doing a twin turbo SBC and 'glide in here RWD than a VR6. (now the wheels are turning..... AGAIN).
I'd like to see it happen for under $5k, not starting from a garage full of two decades of leftover parts.
thats just it, thats the kind of Domestic support i would have.... tons and tons. car for free, that sort of thing. a few friends who are where i am at now with this car, but with their own stuff. or their past stuff when they went bigger, etc.
BTDT. Half of the rotary stuff (and, come to think of it, VW stuff) I have is from people who were cleaning house and said those fateful words: "Anything you don't take, I'm just going to throw out." (fade to: Dodge Durango dragging its reciever hitch on the ground)
PS - You can fit *six* rotaries in a Durango, along with a whole lot of iron housings and boxes of misc. crap.
PPS - I don't actually own a Durango, but you can only fit two rotaries in a Golf so I had to borrow a friend's.
