It sounds really good. Were you riding your brakes at all to be able to build any boost? I'm surprised that Chub (only his mom and dad get to call him that by the way. He corrected me the last time we visited LOL) didn't insist that he needed to be inside the car when testing, or at the very least throwing things like tools at the spinning wheels. I liked the STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR AND GET ON THAT CHAIR. :-D

oh yes, John, i was brake boosting..... you can really tell where too, it loads down nicely, then really picks up on top.

and i think even Mom doesnt get to call him that, just me :)

he had to hurry and tell me something fell..... i didnt want him near the wheels while they were turning. i like the tip-toe action to get up to the car hahaha. the kid is great.

so, some VWKotex people got offended or felt that i put my family in harms way by making those videos, so at the feeling of their veiled threats i removed them.

ok, now that that is done, on to todays events.

I DID A LAUNCH!!!! and the car went pretty sideways pretty fast. :) :) huge grin here.

went to the car show, and got Best Engine trophy. oh yeah.... the bad news.

it was a BBQ/G-t-G/mini-show-n-Shine. but i got there 4 hrs early so we could pull the axles, trans, clutch, driveline, and all the related to change the leaking rear main seal!!!!! :? :curses: :curses: :curses: :curses: :curses: :curses:

this is a brand new motor and it appeared after getting it out that it was damaged in install or re-install. there were some pick-tool appearing marks on the seal surface that poked thru the seal, and it was leaking. not huge leak, but a couple 50 cent sized spots overnight after running the car for 10 minutes in place. enough to warrant a tear down.

new seal, new pilot bearing, we are back in business. finished right as the BBQ got under way. and the car was a magnet..... tons of people all over it. felt good to hear so much kind stuff and props said about the car....

no pix, no videos. but the wife and Chub did win 2 separate raffle prizes as well. and in all my hurrying to get the car back together, i forgot to eat anything!!

Joey went out of his way to help get this sorted out, as he had a show to set up and he pretty much ignored all of that to get the car apart and back together with me so it could be done. :woowoo: :woowoo: :woowoo:

:woowoo: :woowoo: Thats cool winning, first event out. It is pretty cool looking.

How does a new motor have a seal that has been picked at all? If you don't get it in straight on the first try and you can't easily get it to come out, I always thought that at that point it was time for a new seal. Oh well!! It is what it is. I hope that little whoooops doesn't reflect the rest of the build.

Did you keep it up to date regeistered so that it is street legal or did you just trailer it to the event?

oh lord vortex is so lame.

I just got back from riding in Marc's coupe...my god...I can't wait to get my car done and I know what you are feeling with that power and being able to put it down. I swear a 450whp awd car that can put it down in second gear feels as good as a 600whp car that can finally put it down in third. Its just more confirmation that quattro is God's gift to mankind :D

Jim, does the red-green state (;)) not allow E85, the cleanest fuel available in North America?

aaron, your E85 is $$ compared to out in NY. last i saw it was 1.99 here. and your C16 is pricey too. we are about 12-13/gal.

oh and VWKOTEX SUCKS.

that was a cheap place to find it. the station on my way to/from work was $2.45 as i passed it today.

1000cc out, 1600cc in. and fired up. please, ignore the disclaimer at the beginning of the video. it is for the G-rated Audience @ VWKotex that needs to be there. :slap:

and then firing it up. no throttle, just the starter button. runs real rich as all i changed in the tune was the injector. still needs some "lovin" done. which is being done now. and it smells much different than the C-16 i know and love so well.

thanks guys.... support those who support you.

here is the trophy we won, and the post i made on Kotex. i feel the need now to add this disclaimer, please disregard it as it has no bearing here at all.... but when the trophy was announced, Chub went right up to accept it, as was his due as my Pit Crew Chief. LOL

and some random pix of 1.8T motors and parts and Chub. he is a facet of my life, very protected by me, and is a part of my racing team. and i cant fathom how some of you people would think that i would put my child in harms way in any shape or form. oh well.....

Nice work Aaron,

I think its awesome that Chub is such a huge part of your 'car life'. I am 40 now, and my parents have pictures of me with them doing all sorts of mad stuff. They involved me in their life's passions, and that rubbed off on me and made me who I am today. I say go for it, enjoy it and ignore the adult diaper, live in a bubble types wherever they are. You might get hit by a truck, or diagnosed with terminal cancer tomorrow (I hope not BTW), and all those memories you are building are not only good for you but good for your son too.

Keep it up!
