So after months of running the numbers and going back and fourth I settled on VEMS. I was happy with my 034 Ic in the last car and would have loved a IIc but right now, 3 kids & wife in school, the IIc price point was too high. I ended up with the Econoseal V3 from Marc with a VEMS harness and LS2 coils. In all this should be about the same work as an S2 harness but a HUGE savings by skipping the Bosch plug. If I ever go to a IIc it will be easy to adapt the harness. Big thanks to Marc for waiting around for me to make up my mind!

The intercooler will be a medium sized eBay job.

I don't think you'll want to switch back after you get used to the VEMS ;)

I'll never say never since updates are always around. For me, price was the main factor and the only way I could keep the project moving.

Really, 10 days if I want to tune before the drive down

The good news is that I'll be able to drive down regardless. The bad news is that it may be NA :(

Labeled the universal VEMS harness tonight. Good use for the wife's label printer :D

Next step is to mock it up around my spare engine.

Still need to track down some of the more common parts (gaskets, SS lines, etc).

Ugh. Little accomplished this weekend :( Did a little work on FMIC mounting, looks like some L brackets on the stock crossmember will work. I have been plotting about installing the VEMS & harness but did not have everything for that until yesterday.

After tomorrow I'll have all the big parts but still need about $300 of stuff to do the install (MLS & gasket set, oil lines and fittings, TB et al, valve seals, intake pipes and fittings, fluids, etc). In the end, it is looking like I'll be in Vegas with a VEMS controlled 7a and a Holset in the trunk

I 'could' take some shortcuts, not pulling the head, but blowing a headgasket at BBQ2 sounds like less fun than driving a N/A 7a!

It will be a lot like your old car

If I decide to refocus, concentrating on things that can be done at night without disabling the car, I may get my Porsche seats installed this week, VEMS running and maybe install my AL radiator. I could run the new manifold but risk stunting what little low end the 7a has.

A little time spent...

I had a pic of the exhaust side but the iPhone ate it and everything is packed away now.

This pic is difficult to read but that is an 8 next to my thumb and the WG flex joint can be, just, made out above the stand wheel.

Daily motivation...

I need to pickup some wire (NAPA only had 50' spools) and lock down a whole list of gaskets and such to make it happen. Right now I think the worst case could be a VEMS 7a with Hank's intake and we all know the best case!

One thing that may speed things up, without being too foolish is ditching the A/C for the winter and installing something that fits and uses a modern coolant in the spring. Thoughts? I know the lines would need to be capped to try and keep what stays with the car dry.

I am kindof nervous about the frame rail. A few people have mentioned it. It fit in the urq just fine so hopefully it works. :).

Want me to bring my old 11mm head studs to Vegas with me? My stroker is using 12mm units. I'll give you a good deal :)

No AC comments eh?

Anyway, Thinking about compression numbers...

12psi+6psi=18*10.3=185.4psi
185.4psi/9.3=19.3-12=6.3psi

7a stock sea level cyl pressures are like 151psi and the stock 3b is about 244psi.

Would it really be dumb to bolt this to the stock 7a longblock? :bashtard:

If not, the worst thing to do would be the oil feed and return (the wiring is time consuming but fairly clean and quiet).

Hmm.. Do stacked head gaskets and ARP head studs, then go for the rod limit :)
