ya, ADHD is a motherbear to live with. thoughts are sometimes soooo fleeting it is pitiful.
i was saying that i forgot to hook something up, or that i didnt need it for start up, or i could do it later, or, or, or something LOL.
it was the throttle body alignment. forgot to do it. after that first fire, i aligned it, adjusted idle screw, and made it run steady....
and Chub, yeah he is a cute kid.... he LOVES to be out with dad workin on the car.... even if he is in the way majorly.

I wonder how many of us on here have ADD/ADHD. I'm supposed to be on A-XR, but haven't been in a long while.
But anyway, congrats on the start up! Kiddo is cute, the 2-5 year old range can be quite humorous!

im sure i do by most definitions, i cannot concentrate on things that dont really interest me. But I do become hyperfocused on stuff like project cars. Engineering school was a major challenge for me, def do not want to do that again.

coming along nicely. worked all the 3rd gear pulls. this car sounds freakin amazing....
couple videos to tide over the masses. but it is now officially taking time off.
but boy this would have been a rush.
it sees positive manifold pressure before 3k rpm. looks like 2400 rpm it goes positive, and has 5 psi by 3k. this turbo loves to push air... it really does. manifold was getting glowing orange thru the wrap. looked neat.
could tell the motor was really tight, nicely built. felt really strong. took lots more fuel than the pink one. it was really breaking in nicely. could notice as we progressed the temps stayed lower and power was up.
we tried to hold WG springs for a couple pulls, 1BAR. it was creeping to 27 psi though.... that turbo really likes to push. maybe since i have two wastegates it adds the rate? NOT!@!!! LOL.
its break time from projects though. need to build marriage credits back up. seems i have been workin on the project and ignoring other stuff :(

took it to 43.8 psi in 3rd for 543 hp and 444 tq.

watch this nice boost hold. 40 psi gauge.... and you can see tach as well. these were 3500 to 7800 pulls.

the only time we tried to pull 4th gear it hit 45.5 psi by 5700 rpm. peaked 46 psi by 6000 rpm and liftoff @ 6100:

Bottom end again? Didn't look like a turbo. That sucks, sorry to see this.

looks like head lifted again. same place as last time i think.
different head and block, both flat. 46 psi is alot.
may need to look into O-ringing....
is what it is. if ya cant pay then dont play. we all know this.
kinda glad it happened on the rollers, cuz i would certainly have run it and if it happened on the strip at 130+ MPH it could have gotten ugly.

I was just wondering a thing or two...
how come its only making mid 5's on almost 44psi? Seems like thats an awfully large turbo for those numbers. A 30r is 57mm inducer. The S366xl is what...66mm? I am fairly positive that those power levels are possible on the 30r at the same boost level. (Andy with the 3082 made 602whp)
I dont mean anything by it...just kinda curious why its like that? I thought the s366 would be putting out a lot more than that at that kind of boost. I just feel like that turbo is much more capable. My buddy with a 2.0l Honda motor made like 860whp on 36psi on an S372.
Again, I dont mean to bring it up in such a poopy time, but I'm just wondering.

its only been run in 3rd gear. 4th gear has a better 1:1 ratio, less load.
Andy was only FWD too, and this is AWD. we know that Javad has shown 18-22% drivetrain loss, and FWD is what, 7-8%? and Andy has also stated he thinks his readings were off. plus he was pulling 4th gear.
this is still a 1.8T. 1870cc's to be exact. not a 2.0L. not a great flowing head like a Honda.
all valid questions Chris. but questions that i do not have solid answers to.
one last thing? its putting out >30 psi by 5k rpm.... thats decent there....

Thats all definitely true for sure. I always forget that its AWD. Also forgot about Andy's #'s. I think the correct amount was around 540 or something still though. Head flow is for sure something I was thinking about too. You have a non-ported AEB correct?
The boost levels are impressive for sure. What kind of dyno is this? load bearing or no?
I'm actually considering the S366 for my car.
Quick calculation shows that if you were making 650 at the motor then it would be about 530 at the wheels. Sooo that is a little more impressive!

wtf? mannnn, sorry to see.
my stomach just got a bit queasy after that.
with all the time, motivation, and sacrifice that must have gone into this second bout....and to have it crash so abruptly once again....
I feel for ya... :(
So with the rate you've been going, accounting in the need for balancing out life outside of the car, I'm guessing round 3 will occur in sayyyyy, a month or so

Good luck man....

non ported AEB head. even have pix to prove it does not even have a port-match done

DynoJet....
AWD dyno.
power curve is awesome....

were you planning to run that much boost?

Well my buddy had interesting results with his honda on an AWD dyno jet. He made 610 on a load-bearing land and sea dyno and then like 510 on the same boost on an AWD (of course using the FWD mode) Dyno Jet. Its because it was NOT load bearing and couldn't make the boost early enough in the power band. Sooo in reality, you will probably make your boost even earlier!
It was USP's dyno BTW. I was talking to one of their employees and they said its almost useless for them to tune on it (other than getting a base tune down) because the load on the car is so different on the street. They usually have to end up dialing in their cars on the dyno and THEN on the street because of it.

Man. What a year 2009 has been so far for Motorgeekers. On a bright note, the car looks fantastic. I love that color, but I'm feeling for you as I know you've felt it for me. I strongly recommend some family time. My wife let me have it late last week when I spent most of 2 days taking the car apart and packaging parts and shipping them. Now UPS screwed up a couple package shipments and I have to be careful with my time. Your wife and kid(s?) are the true source of happiness, remember that.
Good luck with the car though. I hope you sort through this soon.

WTF! I just got home and I read this WTF!! Damn... WTF!!
Damn, that is a lot of boost!! I bet the curve is great if your seeing 540 in the 40psi range. Damn that is a lot of pressure for just a metal head gasket though. I think it's hard for someone to judge the numbers against that turbo.
That turbo is strange it seems to be spooling awful quick for it's size.
I can tell you some "quattro" numbers. 3076 tuner Javad 2.5L 20v 430whp, 3082 tuner tony chick 430whp 2.2L 20v, 3582 tuner Javad 630whp 2.0L 20v. these are some of the best numbers I seen on quattro's over the years.
Well it sucks anyways I hope it's not too bad

See a 35r is only a 61mm comp inducer.
BUT, is that 630whp on an I5 20v (destroked) or a 2.0l "1.8t"?
